The service was great, but that was it. I was in Erie for a convention and asked the hotel for an Italian restaurant - Serafini's was recommended, much to my dismay.
The appetizer's weren't very italian - didn't even have Caprese.
The bread I was brought was cold and no pesto.
I ordered manicotti - (how hard is this?) - it is seriously the worst I've had. The cheese wasn't even melted, inside or out and I've had better from the freezer section!
Haven't seen a better meatball yet. The sauce is distinct and top-notch. Frequent the take-out side of the business more than anything. 12 meatballs and a quart of plain sauce will feed a family (Italian Bread always included). Enjoy.
We planned our trip to stay in Erie 4/14/2010 (as we have done 2 previous years) so we could get to Serafinil's because we had had great service and food. This was an exception but the Eggplant Parmesan was soggy and not hot, the Whitefish was over cooked and the waiter was preoccupied, unattentive and curt when he did breeze past. Sorry, Serafini's, my GPS shows that there are lots of places to eat between MA and WI so we will not be back. In fact, on our way out to MA we had a very nice brunch at Bob Evens (at I 90 and 19) where for the first time ever I was provided with a sugar free preserve for my toast along with good service and a several smiles.
Serafini's not only has delicious food, but they are always able to seat a large party on short notice. The service is excellent !!!! The best in Erie !!!!
Good food, Good service, nice clean place an large portions... You'll take some home... Didn't see pizza on the menu though, and they have takeout. Thought that was a lil' strange, but you'll be glad you went there.
Serafini's is a family tradition in Erie for many years. It has a very fine reputation as being on of the nicest Italian restaurants in this area. They serve very, very good food and are fortunate to have a wonderful waiting staff as well. The prices are reasonable too.
Serafini's has a very distinct sauce that has kept me coming back for years. It is subtley sweet but tastes of red wine also. Though the menu is varied, I gravitate toward the cheese ravioli or the eggplant parmesan. There is a small bar area that is small and quaint with a few tables where you can eat also in addition to the large diningroom. It has been good since it was on 12th Street many years ago. It is nice to get Italian food that is not part of a chain. I also like the atmosphere, you can go dressed up or in jeans and feel equally at home.
Authentic Italian food at reasonable prices. Delicious doesn't begin to describe it. From the beginnig to the end of your meal at Serafini's you can't go wrong with any selection you make. Whenever family or friends come to town, it is where we go for a lovely meal in a comfortable setting. Never a bad experience.
