Union Grill, Washington

This is the best eatery in the south hills, and one of the best in Pittsburgh, if not the! Great menu, food, and atmosphere!

I haven't been there recently; but, I used to go often and the reviews reminded me why! I liked the atmosphere and the service; but, the food was absolutely awesome! Highly recommended! If you haven't been there... you really should give it a try!

I love this place and the Menu is fantastic. You used to be able get steamed clams there but much to my dismay they dropped them a few years back so I have to settle for the mussels which are very good but if they brought the clams back I would never order mussels. My main complaint about the Union Grill is this guy they brought in as a so called manager. I can only call him a pompous jerk because I am sure they don't allow a profanity laced rant which would be more accurate in every way. He is only there in the evenings and weekends after 4 which are times I no longer go there. I thought when he first started showing up there he was family and they had to give him a job but I later found out they hired him so that is money down the drain that takes a great deal from a great place. This guys main talents seem to be screwing up a table seating like a monkey trying to pull a cookie out of a jar and yelling to the help to take care of his friends. His so called friends want big and tip small so they add nothing to what makes the business go and talking to the waitresses they aren't very happy with him or his cheap friends. I have seen great places like this that should always have great business and great food close because of one person who runs it into the ground and nobody can seem to figure out why and the doors are locked. I hope someone sees the light before it is to late and I wish I had a reason not to skip this place just because of one absolute jerk. Without the jerk there I give this place all the stars it deserves but as long as he is till there just two.

Mickey Flynn and a whole host of others have worked hard at making the Union Grill what it is today. The menu and food are light years away from what they were when Mr. Flynn first took over the Union Grill. It's a great place to eat, and there are some great stand-bys on the menu including the fried zucchini strips as an appetizer and the Italian Wedding soup. In Mr. Flynn's absence, his daughter stepped in admirably to continue the great service and fine food. Normally, a nice, quiet place to have dinner, it can get a little noisy if there is a special event in town.

My wife and I love the Union Grill. It is one of our favorite places to go in Washington. Excellent food at reasonable prices. The atmosphere is great as well. We haven't had a bad meal or experience here ever. Do yourself a favor and get an order of the garlic rolls. They are for lack of a better word, awesome!! We got them our first time there and haven't been able to try any of the other appetizer's because they are that good!

If you like TRUE local restaurants, it's hard to beat The Union Grill. The food is outstanding and the romantic setting makes having conversation a pleasure. I don't like restaurants that blast music. When you are out with friends, you want to hear them talk & have a good time!
