Tessaro's Restaurant, Pittsburgh

Why does everyone rave about these burgers? They are SSSSOOOOOOO ordinary. The City Grille on the Carson Street has almost exactly the same set up but their burgers are so much better. I've been to Tesero's like 4 times and every time I think "Oh! THIS time I'll taste that great burger everyone raves about!" and every time I am dissapointed. Add the fact the place is small and cramped and parking is a problem it's not worth the trip.

I went with three friends to eat at Tessaro's on a rainy Saturday evening. I dropped them off while I parked the car. The hostess sat them and when she found out I was parking the car, she told them literally to "GET UP." She said they wouldn't seat them because I wasn't there. By that time I had arrived at the table my friends were still in shock by the utter rudeness. Tessaro's was a Pittsburgh institution that my family had frequented for years. Our treatment is a disgrace to its reputation

Fantastic burgers. These are amazing. Don't even try other menu items until you've had one of the burgers. They use custom ground meat, like a fine steak. Even though the patties are thick, well-done burgers are not burnt on the outside, and a medium-rare is not left raw in the middle. They serve them with home fries, which I find need to be cooked well done, but special requests don't phase these folks at all. The owner, or a family member always meets you at the door, and the service is great. Don't expect much elbow room, as the people at the next table are closer to you than table mates at other restaurants would be. There's a great selection of draft beers too.

What a joke, Don't get me wromg the food is excellent, but who wants to dine at a restaurant when all the owner Tee and her daughters do is constantly stare and criticize as if there sh--does not stink. They are very unprofessional owners and they are shifting many people away. Has anyone noticed how cheap things are getting since Kelly has passed away? Toilet paper is thinner than thin, crackers have changed brands, soup is nasty as all hell, there are always dirty tableclothes. Not a very warm and welcoming place. I have been eating at Tessaro's for upteen years now but recently put a stop to it. It is definately not the same without Kelly. Not to mention, The one daughter who they have working for them who follows mommy around is judge harrington who was fired from the city of pittsburgh due to the fact that when she was working out at the YMCA downtown pittsburgh, she was reusing her once published parking ticket everyday on her vehicle so that she would not get ticketed again. Thats professional huh? But has the nerve to criticize everyone else. Don't waste your time. I feel they dont appreciate customers, but they are simply worried about making money. You are better off going to Wendy's

I recently went to Tessaro's in search of the best burger in Pittsburgh...it was not here. It was a decent burger, but not as spectacular as other reviews make it seem. Still, a nice, casual place to grab a good dinner.

They have the very best burgers! The atmosphere is unique too and Tessaro's has local Pittsburgh flare!

Definitely a must when in Pittsburgh. Their signature burgers are the best in the Burgh. Made with a beef mixture that's especially mixed and ground to their specifications. The dining room is on the small side but this is part of the ambiance. Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to Tessaro's.

We visited Saturday late night, June 21, 2008 (our 33rd anniversary). We ran into the restaurant in the pouring rain to jump into a great little restaurant with wonderful food. After a great day visiting Pittsburgh, PA, Tessaro's provided a wonderful late night meal. We both had burgers; she had the cheeseburger with potato salad while I had the gourmet burger with home fries. The food was delicious! Do yourself a favor and look at the ceiling while you're there. Nice. I wish they had the fireplace blazing in the small upper dining area that cold, wet night, but everything else was perfect. Thanks Tessaro's for a great evening. Jim and Marsha

Far and away, the best burghers in town, actually anywhere between NYC and Chicago - the absolute best. And, the cole slaw and home fries-just wow!
