Rose, Ithaca

Went to The Rose last night for the first time. Was recommended by someone. Never even knew it existed but glad I know now. Great meal, wonderful wait staff and prices were awesome. Don't know anyplace else in Ithaca where you could get portions that big and food that good for such a reasonable price. Would highly recommend and will definitely go back again and again. And by the way Tim, I don't work there.

THIS PLACE IS AWFUL. I honestly think that the positive reviews for this restaurant must have been written by the staff. I recently moved to the Ithaca area and there is no shortage off good restaurants- this, however, is not one of them. My girlfriend and I went there on a Saturday night for dinner, the place was dirty and it took a good 5-10 minutes before we were even greeted. Our waitress was extremely rude and unprofessional. We ordered a pizza and waited literally an hour to get it as we watched three tables that were seated long after us receive their food. When the pizza finally came the waitress told us to "move those napkins out of the way" (so she could set the pizza down) not asking us, telling us. As awful as the service was, the food was far worse. The pizza was barely eatable. I am not exaggerating when I say I have had far better pizza from a gas station and it is needless to say that it was no where near the quality that the twenty-dollar asking price would imply. As if this weren't bad enough we had to wait another 20 minute after we finished eating for the waitress to bring the check. I have never written a negative review before but this experience was so bad that I feel its necessary to urge any prospective diners to save your money and steer clear of this place. Don't let the name fool you- this place stinks.

The Rose is a laid back restaurant to go to. The waitresses are friendly, the staff seemed to keep busy and were always smiling. They made you feel like you were welcome. There prices are not bad I got a huge plate of noodles and a decent size piece of chicken smothered in bright red sauce and lots of cheese along with the salad bar. The food was hot when they brought it out and fully cooked. I would eat there again. They also have a bar that looked like it had a good selection. i did not go to the bar. I was impressed with how clean it was also there was no crumbs on the floor no gum under the table and no sticky spots on the table..

My wife and I have been going to The Rose since it was the Mexicali Rose. Food is great! there is a wide variety to chose from on the menu. From the warm and friendly greeting you receive when you walk in the door until the friendly good-bye when you leave you feel special. The staff is the best in the area. Prices are lower than you would expect. The food is varied and fabulous. All this and Fried Ice Cream, too!. Who could ask for more?

I have been going to the Rose for years and it is a hit and miss kinda thing. Some days the food is hot and delicious, and other days it's warm and inconsistent. I can't complain for the prices and it keeps the kids happy. One thing that is a drag is that I often see customers complaining and giving the staff a hard time, and these customers actually have the nerve to ask for special orders and it seems special treatment. I on the other hand take what they give me and never complain. Thanks for being a staple of the community, and don't let those "special" customers get you down, there are good patrons such as me and my family.
