Salena's Mexican Restaurant, Rochester

I am a fan of their stuffed avocados. I am a fan of mixing their beans and rice together with a little bit of the ever-flowing salsa. THIS IS REMARKABLE BECAUSE I am not a bean lover, but in my experiences this place has the best refried beans. So many other places that serve them tend to make them pale in color, thin and almost watery. GROSSS!! The preparation looks like they didn't add too much else to the pintos; they're nice and thick and flavorful and I'd eat them even if they weren't mixed up with the rice on my plate. :) Also tasty: Any burrito served enchilada-style. Guacamole Tostada.

We went to Salena's several times over the years and the food was always delicious. In fact, it's the only Mexican restaurant in Rochester with authentic Mexican food. The prices are very reasonable and the servers are very pleasant & attentive. The owner is also a nice guy and he has a great sense of humor.

Hands down, Salena's is the best Mexican Restaurant in Rochester. Great food and service. Best chips in town. If you have not been to the new and larger location, you must check it out. I suggest the steak taco and the black bean burritos with the mole' sauce.

I have been going to Selena's for years and have always loved the food and the service. Since they have moved to their new location, it has just gotten better. The food is fresh and varied. The service is friendly and you just can't get a better meal at a better price. My favorites are the steak tacos and the guacamole with their freshly made chips. Wash it all down with a Mexican beer or IBC root beer and leave happy and full.

Love there Food, You can either get a combo or Select from a taco or a burrito which can be cheaper and if your not that hungry.. Strong Margritas! :) .. And Always a fun crowd if you go for Happy Hour! NACHOS! to die for , and it's always fun to sit outside..

After living in Houston, TX for over 8 years I can honestly say that this is the best Mexican cuisine my husband and I have ever tried. We went in at 3:30 pm on a Saturday. We had excellent service, attentive and prompt. Our drinks were refilled regularly. We came in with a party of 5 and everyone tried something different and everything was so flavorful. Kudos to the owners and chef! We highly recommend!!! Excellent value!!!‎

Ranked #1 in Rochester NY -Mexican Restaurant in my opinion. Salena's Mexican Restaurant Selenas is located in Village Gate. They Have just about every type of Tequilla ever created. They make their own chips there along with just about everything else! The service is fun and fast! Im all about the Guaccamole. They make it best! The hole mole nachos are a great start, followed by the avoccado salad, and main course the guaccamole tacos. At least thats the way I order when I go

I can't decide what I like best about Salena's - the best waiter, Mischa, who brings out my sweet potato fries before I even ask, and always remembers the wine I like, the cute bartender who makes a great Margurita, or the most fabulous sweet potato fries in their own chipolte sauce that you will ever ever taste. My friends who know Mexican say it's the best in Rochester - friendly atmosphere, great food and fun.‎

Salena's is another restaurant in Rochester I can't get enough of. Their Mexican food isn't the most authentic, but it's delicious nonetheless. The space could use some work, but is not cramped or uncomfortable. The service is hit or miss; I've had mostly good service. I almost always order the same thing: a stuffed avocado with chicken (or black beans). It comes with a side of rice and beans. It's simple and insanely delicious. My companion almost always orders the stuffed pork chop. It's stuffed with a polenta and chorizo mixture and served with the _most amazing_ maple chipotle sweet potato fries. They're sinfully good. Everything else is forgivable because the food is consistent and yummy. Lunch is the most economical because of their special lunch combo menu. And be careful! Their margaritas are really strong (tequila, triple sec, and lime juice -- no sour mix)!

Trying new and often times very expensive restaurants for fun and we were very impressed with Salena's food, service and drinks. You are used to tex-mex and their authentic Mexican fair is probably quite different. Our favorite place was in NJ where they only spoke Spanish and the menu also contained no English. If you want REAL Mexican, Salena's is by fair the best bet in the area.‎
