The bad reviews my former work has been getting disgust me.
This is not Blu in Boston, its not an upscale ritzy fancy place. It's a down-to-earth Bar and Grill, not a restaurant. The fries are not cooked 3-4 times over, I know this because I was the one cooking them for a year, Everything is sanitary, by the way, I was the one cleaning up from end of 2007 and beginning of 2008. I used P2000 cleaner which if you get on your skin gives you a nasty burn, it is the best cleaner available.
I also mopped underneath the stoves, and every surface was cleaned, washed, bleached and cleaned again before I left. And all dishes are washed with hot soapy water, then rinsed then dipped in a Bleach bath for a quick sanitize. The food is fine, the burgers are great and the fish fries are excellent (only on Fridays).
By the way, the waffle fries come in a bag from the company we buy them from, they are raw and are just plain potatoes cut into waffle fry format, then we throw them in the fryer and fatten 'em up. The bar staff may not be the best, like at a NYC restaurant but they do try. Yes, sometimes they slack, no they are not totally ignorant of you. If you would be nice, you would get served faster, trust me. When I worked in the kitchen, If someone was very nice to the waitress, their order got priority.
This is not a bad place, its not ritzy, it's a little down to earth place for good food. Try it.
Since the bad reviews this place has been under new ownership and (not sure because I didn't go there much when bad reviews were given) but the place is absolutely wonderful!! I'd rather get food from the Grill than the nicest local pizza place. They have a great menu and the food is always top notch. The prime rib on Friday and Saturday nights is out of this world!! I love going there for dinner, and the nighttime crowds are great, and there are great people to hang out with!! I love this bar!!!
I do not know what everyone is talking about. I think the Hemlock Grill is awesome. I was a waitress for many years and understand that restaurants can have bad days. My experiences have been great. Wonderful food, great atmosphere and great staff. I guess if you are a stuck up snob this place might not be for you but if you just want to have a good time and good food this place is it.
Now Surely the last review was witten by an employee or the owners little sister ..... This place is the poster child of HORRIBLE .... the menu was typical bar fair with a few short attempts at steak house items, nothing stood out .... Our server was clearly on something ,looked as if she had a rough night before. She was rude and short, seemed as if we were putting her out by simply being there, as we were the only patrons in the whole place .... Matter a fact most of the staff looked rough WHATS GOING ON HERE!!! At this point my companion and I felt uneasy... And our arms were sticking to the table... Moving on our drinks came out fairly fast. Things were lookin up ! As I went to take a long awaited swig of one of the few draft beers not offered in a 40 oz. at the local gas station. I noticed a large lip print, not one but THREE ! YUK!!! I alerted our unpleasent server. She promptly took the glass behind the bar and as I watched she took a bar rag probably dirty, and wiped the rim of the glass and tried to return it to me SAME GLASS SAME BEER ...... With out delay we left .... This place was by far the most unkept place I ever been .... But I guess after 15 hours shovling cow poop and fixin Ma's 73 Buick this place might seem like The Plaza to these folks. With much anticipation we headed back to Rochester and civilization. We went to a great little place in the St. Paul Quarter in Rochester and I had a Smoked Duck Panini and a glass of Ommegang For 15 bucks OUTSTANDING. Come on Hemlock Grill take a shower!!!!!
If your looking for the best fish frys, most mouth water steaks then this is the place for you. Thursday nights they have Kareoke and the friendliest bartenders around. After the dinner rush you can still order up some tasty snacks, like fries mushrooms , buffalo chicken fingers, I recommend the Uncle Howards Barbacue Sauce)and a smorgusboard of other things.
