Docs Lakeside Seafood and Steakhouse
At Doc's Lakeside Seafood and Steakhouse we use only the freshest ingredients and seafood from around the world. That includes LIVE MAINE Lobster! We have it delivered each and everyday! We are located in historic Canandaigua New York right next door to the New York State Wine and Culinary center and the beautiful Canandaigua Inn on the lake. Doc's is the area's only fine dining restaurant catering to relaxing family style atmosphere. Bringing the kids is not a problem - We thought of them too, with our specially created kids menu.
Recently went to Docs for lunch. Menu is very limited and overpriced. I ordered the steak sandwich which I did not eat as there was more fat than meat. I told the server I could not eat the sandwich due to the quality of the meat. She said she would tell the chef and that was the last I heard of it. I paid the full bill and will never eat there again. Also, the bathroom looks like a Kentucky Fried Chicken bathroom. Very disappointed.
My mother had surgery in mid-May, I'm from NC and I'm staying with her in Shortsville, NY until she's well. She wanted seafood for lunch while we were in Canandaigua. She told me about what a great seafood restaurant Doc's is supposed to be. What a disappointment. The lunch menu is very short and offers mainly 4 salads and 3 soups. Oh and for raising the cost to $12 or $14 dollars you can add chicken, shrimp (4!) , steak or fish. Thats all the seafood that this SEAFOOD restaurant offers. We would have left except my mother is on a walker and it was an effort just to get in. I chose the Caesar salad and a cup of seafood bisque. The bisque was ok. When we were served our salads we weren't offered and crackers, rolls or anything else. I asked the server if we could have some rolls or crackers at least. Her reply was that if we wanted rolls we would have to wait 15 minutes for them to be baked. She did give us eack a packet of oyster crackers. My mother added shrimp to her Bistro salad which brought the cost for her to $14 just for the salad; not including the iced tea. My salad, sans any additions along with my cup of soup and iced tea came to $16.39. The Caesar salad was simply remaine lettuce, a vague amount of parmesan cheese and hardly any dressing. The service, although friendly, left a lot to de desired. I had to ask twice to have my tea refilled, and we were only one of two tables in the dining room. If this is an example of a fine seafood restaurant I would really hate to see what I might be served or charged at a bad restaurant. In North Carolina we have some of the finest seafood restaurants in the country, so maybe I'm spoiled, but I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone, especially seafood lovers. Word of mouth is bad, Doc's. I may not live here but much of my family does and bad news travels fast.
