San Marco Restaurant
This small, intimate restaurant, which opened in 1984, features Northern Italian cuisine. It is family-owned and operated by Nancy and Frank Grimaldi. Frank grew up in Italy as the son of two private chefs, and his skill in the kitchen has made San Marco one of the best Italian restaurants in the area. The restaurant is very elegant, especially the very intimate wine room which only has a few tables. Menu items include penne all'arrabita (penne pasta in a spicy tomato sauce) and vittello della nonna (veal scallopini with white wine, herbs, cheese, and grilled eggplant in a fresh tomato sauce). One of the most popular menu items is the lobster ravioli. Actually, anything you order from the menu is good and the service is excellent to boot. Desserts include a chocolate souffle served with hazelnut gelato. - Christine A. Smyczynski
This by far is the best Italian Restaurant you will find in Buffalo! When we were there for dinner the table of 4 next to us was from Toronto, ON. They came to Buffalo just to come to San Marco's. San Marco's is becoming and internationally known fine dinning restaurant. Take advantage of it Buffalo, you don't know what a gem you have in your own town!
Use to be a very nice place- not any more. Food is below average, portion tiny, price double since last year. Obviously, owners are not in the kitchen anymore. The food was not authentic italien food. No light music as a background. If you are planning any event, don't ruin it in San Marco. Tiny entry (salad or soup are extras) was served with boiled carrot and boiled zuccini. Service was good.
we visit san marco often for dinner parties. best italian food. best steak in town. try the pasta fagioli soup for sure. the food is always personally prepared by the chef and his wife.. so service is a little slow but definitely worh the wait. the wine is of excelllent flavor. worth a visit. little pricey.
