Pano's on Elmwood
Winner of the Favorite Greek Diner poll in the Buffalo area, this restaurant has been catering to an ever-growing customer base for many years nowand has expanded to meet the need. Located in the Elmwood Strip area not far from historic Allentown , the diner serves everything from breakfast to late-night snacks. An enclosed, heated patio opens up for the summer for a view of the passing parade. The staff is upbeat and very attentiveand you never have to wait more than a few minutes for your order.
Mediocre food and even more mediocre service. There are SOO many better choices for dining in the area. In the past I would go under protest if friends wanted to go, but now I won't set foot in the place. The final straw was when I went in solo late one evening. I ordered decaf coffee because of the hour and something light to eat. The coffee smelt soo bad and tasted even worse. I asked the waitress to switch it to decaf tea instead. Then the food order was wrong and was immediately sent back. I completely polite during the entire time. She never checked back with me. The final nail in the coffin was when I went to cash out. The manager rang me up and asked how everything was. “Pretty awful actually” I replied. He didn't ask why or apologize or anything. If the management could care less than why would I give them my business! That was years ago before they expanded. If you are new to the area PLEASE try other restraunts.
One of my favourite places to go for breakfast. Their extesive omelette menu makes for interesting and varying choices, and the eggs benedict is delicious! Staff have always been nice, also.
cons: parking lot small, parking on Elmwood even more of a challenge, the dinner menu is OK but definitely not as good as breakfast. I really, really prefer Greek dressing on my Greek salad, not Balsamic vinagraitte. But, that's just me.
This place has awful customer service. I ate at their restaurant and then walked across the street to get a coffee with a friend. They towed my car immediately. it wasn't even sort of peak hours either. Afterwards I tried to speak with them about this and I couldn't get my car back untill the next day and it cost me $200!! I wasn't from the area and had to stay overnight. They did absolutely nothing to help me or to take care of a customer. Everytime I spoke with them thereafter they hung up on me. They run a shady business there and I will never go there again!
We went there for lunch mostly because it was close to where we were and supposedly had great food. It is WAY overpriced and not worth it. I wouldn't even bother to wait in line for a ripoff like this.
On two occassions that Ii have gotten take out, they have lied to my face as to the content of my meal. Either the servers and staff don't know what's in it or take the time to care, or since you are take-out, they don't make the effort.
Given the first occassion I was sure to ask what the options were. They described one, I picked it, and happily awaited my meal from Pano's reveered by all from Buffalo. As a non-native Buffalonian, I was looking forward to this experience.
To my dismay after travelling home to engoy my meal, the side order was in fact some thing completely different from the choices described, and decided upon. It also took up 2/3rds of a lunch entree, and the main course seemed small and cheap by comparison, esp. for a Greek specialty dish.
I shared this experience with the staff and was courteously granted a gift card by the owner. Sure that make things better. I hoped they could change my opinion the second time.
I ordered again, and again, the same thing happened. Servers do not know what is on the food, or in it, or included when take outs are given. Sorely disappointing given it cost 14 dollars for a steak salad. In fact I never got change for the bill I added to my gift certificate.
The servers are to busy, probably overworked, running around like crazy to keep orders straight. They don't know the menu, and they don't keep track of what's in or on people's orders.
I find this to be a health concern. What if you ask for one thing to be excluded. Can you be assured that you will not have an allergic reaction or any food reaction?
As two people handled my picking up an order, and I handed them a bill to cover the difference, the could not tell me the price, and I never received change. I guess that's my fault for not noticing till I got home.
Pay attention Pano's.
Overall the food was ok, pretty good, but overly salted both times. For the price and hassle, I'm not sure I'ld bring a guest here.
Perhaps it's better dining in. I'ld presume so. There is always a line and it's always crowded, so I presume people are either happy with the way things are or I just had 2 bad/so-so experiences.
I would prob eat here again out of convenience, but they've definitely confirmed my prior experience now.
Lower your expectations, be prepared to wait, and eat in.
Pretty run of the mill over-priced food, not any better than any other greek/family type restaurant.
The staff turnover rate is super high which most likely means the owner is not a good boss which is not very appetizing.
