Chef Mark Hutchenson's new American restaurant is redefining city dining. Brick walls, vintage posters and white linen tablecloths create a warm and trendy bistro mood. The menu includes a variety of appetizers such as Thai-high calamari and stuffed jalapenos, and entrees include steak frite and grilled prawns over pasta.
Little upscale restaurant. Bright atmosphere, a bit noisy the night my co-worker and I were there. Service was lacking at first, and then the manager directed a waitress to us. Service recovered then. It was interesting that there were as many nightly specials as there were items on the menu. Quality of the wine and food were above average but not great. This would be a place to try again to see what it is like a 2nd time to see if there is an improvement or not.
Just moved back to Buffalo after a 9 year absence and remembered fondly the great meals had there in the distant past. We were glad to see our favorite restaurant was still here and were seriously hoping the quality was still there. They have not lost their touch. The food was all of excellent quality. The calamari and mussels appetizers are to die for and the steak au poivre phenomenal. The restaurant is a bit smaller than I remember and the noise can tend to be overwhelming at times but we were there on a busy Friday. As for the food, I doubt you will find a better meal in Buffalo.
It used to be one of the BEST restaurants in Buffalo. The number of tables increased and the menu got considerably more pricey. While still not terribly expensive, Hutch's is now in the upper tier for Buffalo and falls a tad short in this category to be considered excellent.
We arrived in Buffalo on the way to Niagara Falls for a surprise wedding and needed a nice place for a party of 8 to meet, greet, and reveal the surprise. Based on this site, we chose Hutch's. Good move.
Quality was superb, portions were substantial, service was friendly.
If ever in the area again, we would definitely make the trip.
