We ate here two nights ago. Quite a disappointing experience! We had been looking forward to this for a few days but in the end, well let's just say we won't be going back.We were seated as soon as we walked through the door but didn't see our waitress for a while. She seemed a bit overworked though friendly. Although assistants wandered by with water and bread periodically, no one seemed to be helping her to serve. It was a Monday night so
Little upscale restaurant. Bright atmosphere, a bit noisy the night my co-worker and I were there. Service was lacking at first, and then the manager directed a waitress to us. Service recovered then. It was interesting that there were as many nightly specials as there were items on the menu. Quality of the wine and food were above average but not great. This would be a place to try again to see what it is like a 2nd time to see if there is an improvement or not.
Loved this restaurant on the water with a very nice view. It was very romantic and we both had a tremendous dinner. I had the chilean seabass which was the best I think I have ever had!!! My husband had the fliet mignon with risotto and gorgonzola which was excellent. Our waiter was attentive and the service was excellent. Would definitely come back again.
I don't know what Ted's problem is, but hutches is "the" best restaurant in buffalo, everything on the menu is excellent, Strip steak is awesome, Halibut is out of this world, appetizers are great, atmosphere, staff, decor, everything is GREAT!!!
They really do the food thing right. Great menu - great ingredients treated very respectfully. Fish and steak especially. Well-trained, attractive, young wait-staff. Eating at the bar is fun - excellent selection of wines - bottles or by-the-glass. Bit pricey but you will never regret a moment of it. It is excellent food without ANY pretense.

Absolutely wonderful is an understatement when it comes to fine dining in a relaxed but professional atmosphere. Mark Hutchinson has been doing this for years, The servers, Randy Schmitt who mans the bar are all top notch. Many have been there for a number of years. . That tells you something . The stuffed veal chop was the best I have ever had, Preceeded by 6 raw oysters were truly sweet, fresh and served incredibly cold. The Newton claret by the glass, or I believe you can buy it by the bottle was wonderful. I read where some people say its good but pricey - I say that is not true when you see the value and service you receive. If you travel to any "big" cities you would find a comparable restaurant alot more expensive.
We've been to Hutchs several times and have never been disappointed. We even brought our 2 year old there for dinner once and had a wonderful time. Our waitress probably never served children there before but she was still very friendly and professional. The food is delicious and although the menu is not extensive, there are always a long list of specials. Pro: Great food Con: Needs reservation
I've gone to alot of restaurants in the last couple years, to broaden my culinary horizons and I have to say that Hutch's was the best of the restaurants that I've visited in the last year. I cannot wait to go there again.
