You've likely heard of Buffalo wings, but few outside the city know that Frank and Teressa's Anchor Bar is where they originated in 1964 and where they still make some of the best. If wings aren't your thing, you can choose from made-to-order pub food. Minutes from the Buffalo Theater District , this casual, unpretentious bar features live jazz Friday and Saturday evenings. The walls are covered with awards and articles extolling the famous wings. See website for online sauce and souvenir shopping and more.
This comes from a person born and raised right on Buffalo's West Side. I have been living in the South for almost 10 years and Southern Hospitality is definitely overrated. No other city and people in the world compare to those that come from and live in Buffalo. We are truly the City of Good Neighbors.
This place is old news, they've lived too long on the reputation and forgot to keep with times. All wings are is a combination of Franks red hot and melted butter. Everything else has moved on, this should too.
This place is where the wings are. It's the home of the buffalo wing and they are the best there is. no one comes close to the Anchor Bar. You have to stop here and have some then you'll want to order them again and again. Go ahead have them air shipped to you.
If you want the best food you've ever tasted, this isn't the place to go. If you want to visit a place that native Buffalonians love (as well as aficionados of the chicken wing), this is a must.
Locals and others will debate whether it has the best wings in town. I tend to think that it doesn't. But the point of reference does start here. Service can be sloppy, so keep the expectations in check. If nothing else, you can weigh in on the debate about the wings. The bar is a bit of a dive, but fun.
There's only one place you can get wings this good - The Anchor Bar. They started here and they are still the best. I don't know how they do it, but I've travelled around the world and never found anything close. Add a Beef on Weck and you're in heaven. Oh, and the beers are great.
As the orginator of Buffalo Wings the Anchor bar is still the best. As a resident of Buffalo I eat there often and they are great. If ever in WNY area you have to stope by the Anchor Bar food great not just wings and the enviroment is fun and freindly
