Oh wow just wow, as a Buffalo native I always come back to the Gate. My wife and our friends were in town a few weeks ago for the Bills Redskins game. You will not find wings anywhere on this planet that equal these wings served at Gabriel's Gate. We have eaten wings from La Nova, Anchor Bar, Duffs Bocces, etc. and these wings are bar none the best Buffalo has to offer. It was Friday night in Buffalo and we literally pigged out starting with their french onion soup and 2 pitchers of Labatt's Blue. We then ordered 2 fish fries, and four burgers complimented by 30 wings and 2 more pitchers of Labatt's Blue beer. The best wings in Buffalo are at Gabriel's Gate bar none.

First off, this is NOT a fine dining restaurant. Its more of a rustic pub atmoshere~ wich is super cool, especially in the cold time of the year because they have real wood burning fireplaces~ very cool atmoshere, but not fine dining. If your visiting Buffalo, this is a great place to try Buffalonian food; the best wings, great beef on weck sandwich and the soulvaki salads are amazing! They have vegetarian options, great salads, the burgers are great~ the only bad thing is to get French fries with your burger or sandwiches you have to pay extra otherwise they come with potato chips- another bummer thing is no re-fills on soft drinks~ I recommend getting a pitcher if you like re-fills. The bar is great with an amazing happy hour!

Probably the best wings in Buffalo. You always here about Anchor Bar and Duffs but I think these are better. They have a really good beef on weck as well. French onion soup is fantastic! The service is almost always fantastic and only on the busiest of nights does it take a while for a table. The atmosphere is funky and inviting with multiple fireplaces in the winter and a nice little urban garden for summer time. The only question I have is why don't they light the awesome torches that come out of the metal work on the front of the building??? I really liked those! I try to avoid the place before Sabre Games or any other event that brings the crowds in from the suburbs ... if I want to be with Amherst Douche bags I will walk the extra block to Colter Bay.

I would hope they got better. This used to be one of the best places to eat. Fish fries were awesome. Went there for late night wing special and had the worst service EVER! I even called the owner the next day. We tried it a few years later and had much better service and decent food. Their French Onion soup is Awesome. The small steak specails are good as well.

eclectic atmosphere
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/2/08
I have always enjoyed going to Gabriels Gate. I enjoy the atmosphere, the service is decent. I am a little disappointed that they haven't changed the menu in a number of years. I like the steak sandwich and ribs are always good.I would recommend this resturant if one is looking for a casual night out on town.Avoid the booth in the front of the resturant, it's been broken for years.

My co-workers all love this place but I was highly disappointed when I tried it because there were no menu options for vegetarians. I ordered a salad without the meat, but when the waiter brought it over, it had the meat on it. If you like burgers and chicken sandwiches, this would probably be a good choice though.

The only good thing about this place is the location, one star, and the age of the building, second star. Otherwise it is too dark to see your food and the food is below average. They obviously have cooks that get paid minimum wage and just dont care. Their daily soup is below average and their menus items are the same and anywhere else in Buffalo. Its cool to go there and get a drink and to look at the inside, but other than that and maybe some wings, dont bother too often.

good stuff

I usually go here for lunch, but the bar scene at night is a lot of fun! They have quality food as well as good service...and arguably the best wings in the city!

Awesome Food
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/1/07
My likes about this restaurant are: 1. The food is excellent, haven't had a meal I didn't like here, I've tried just abount everything too. 2. The atmosphere is calm and relaxing, perfect for couples or just have a powere lunch. 3. It's quiet, like a little secret no one knows about. My only dislike is that the service isn't that good. Everytime I've gone there weather it be busy or not, the service has been poor.

Two huge thumbs up
Buffalo's best wings, great beer, fantastic burgers. The perfect place to watch a hockey game. As an authentic Buffalo experience, this restaurant can't be beat. I take all my out of town guests here.
