Great Chinese Buffet, Johnson City

I was told by some locals this was a decent place to get a meal if wanting chinese. WOW! these locals are deprived of good chinese buffet. The food was barely warm and I could not even finish a plate. When I complained the guy taking checks said it is buffet and it is hot. I asked to stick his finger into the plate and he refused. I paid 12.00 for food I could not even eat, he offered no discount. My entire time in restaurant was less than 10 minutes.

I went there because I read the ratings, it sounded good. but the food was not good. actually it tasted funny. The only things that tasted good was the seafood. The fried dumplings, everything just didn't taste right. I went and got a stirfry and he was upset that I didn't tip him, he said what nothing for me. The waiter and waitress just kept watching us eat and hoovered over us but not in a friendliest way. They just made us feel uncomphortable. They had no personality. Try the one in Vestal, Ny near Walmart. That's what chinese food should taste like . We only tried this one because it was closer. But not again. Big thumbs down. Don't believe the ratings. Apparently they don't know what chinese food should taste like.

We love eating at Great China Buffet!!! In fact, we drive in from Cleveland to visit friends and they always joke that if we drive the 6hrs they'll take us here for dinner! The crab legs & sushi are our favorites!!!! Yum. The woman at the counter is so sweet also. The other staff isn't too friendly to me, but the food keeps us coming back!

Used to LOVE this place. I still enjoy it, but it seems that the selection of foods keeps dwindling as time goes on. Still, it's fairly cheap, it's spacious enough that it almost never feels crowded, and the staff is polite and very helpful.

Well, I definatley have to say this is my favorite chinese buffet. First place I ever had sushi and I absolutley love it. They have a very good variety of sushi (and other great foods). But A++ on the sushi.

The Great China Buffet always has certain items available - I mean, what would a chinese buffet be without lomein, fried rece and couple rice stir-frys using chicken - but the kitchen staff has established a rotation too, so that there's always something new and tasty, every time you visit! The staff is very good about refilling the trays and keeping a good supply of entrees on hand. The restaurant also features a Mongolian bar where you can choose your raw meat and vegetable and have them cooked as you wait. We've always thought about trying that - a chance for more veggies, less sauce !! After a couple round of appetizers and entrees, we check out the desserts, which in my opinion, always look better than they taste. The Great China Buffet may not be chinese haute cuisine, it may also not be home-cooking Chinese style. But it sure is tasty and a great way to get culinarys horizons!
