When my husband and I went in to eat here the service was alright. Needed to be more friendly and smile more. The food was pretty good, except for the fettucini alfredo with chicken and broccoli. The alfredo sauce had an odd taste to it, almost rancid...like the oil they had used was bad...something was off about it. I've tried it without the chicken and with different noodles, but the recipe they use isn't palatable.
The calzones are very greasy, maybe if they used a thicker dough it would work better. I do like the size of the calzone for the price.
Their salads aren't the freshest when ordered for delivery. More often than naught I do not eat them because the lettuce is turning brown.
Also, I do not like to be charge per meatball. I had ordered my son a spagetti and meatballs dinner and it came with one meatball.
The location is very nice as is the decor. The food is alright for the lowish prices.
Hands down the BEST italian food in New York!!! No matter what you order, you will never be disapointed!!Can NOT wait until they open up in Watertown, but until then we will always make the drive for their fine food and wonderful staff!!
The Magro Family are fine chefs with great Italian and Sicilian cafe food. Stefano's in Carthgage, Sorrento's in Ilion, and the newest family branch of Stefano's in (I believe) Pulaski or Central Square. I have recently tried the Sorrento's in Ilion, and while I found the restaurant building itself the best design and atmosphere, our local Stefano Magro is a finer chef. Most outstanding of his variety of ethnic cuisine is the incredible flavor of his alfredo sauce, no matter the pasta it be served over. Also worthy of rave reviews is the flavorful manicotti and also veal dishes available. The only suggestion I could offer for improvement would be to use the pasta bowls for dinner salads so that the salad doesn't fall all over the table, and upgrade the dinner bread to a heated crusty loaf possibly made by Alteri's bakery in Watertown or, better yet, a homemade mini-loaf by the talented Stefano Magro himself.
I'm not a big pizza fan, but I have to say Stefano's makes the best. We have pizza delivered just about every Friday and it's always a huge order (at least 3 large pizzas) so it helps that their prices are relatively reasonable.
We ate at Stefano's for the first time right be for my husbad deployed. The food was great and you got a lot of it for the price. However, I was not impressed with the service we got....it was kinda slow, plus the dining area is rather small and you feel like you are sitting right on top of the other customers. Over all we had a nice time and like I said the food was wonderful! It was a nice change from the one fast food resturant we have here in Carthage!
Stefano's is the best pizza place we've found in the North country. Their Italian food is excellent and the prices are very good. I already recommened to all my friends and they agreed. Very nice new location.
