I went to the reviews and observed that most were made years ago. Went to Delmonico's for my 49th anniversary on Sept.23. This was my favorite restaurant and always get gift certificates from my kids. My last 2 visits have been horrible. Last spring entree was served at the same time as antipasto. They apologized and took my steak back in kitchen, only to serve same meat 10 minutes later after being reheated. My steak had more fat and grizzle than eatable meat.On my anniversary the fried calamari was so overcooked a lot of it fell apart and looked like crumbs. The antipasto looked like is was pre-made hours before serving and looked part fresh and part wilted as though 2 were combined too make into one. I ordered the Frutti de mare at $17.95 and got 4 tiny clams,2 shrimp,a small piece of haddock and so little calamari it could hardly be found. I should have stuck to the steak and sent it back if it was grizzly and fatty like last time. Their prices have skyrocketed and food quality has diminished so much. I think they should reevaluate their chefs, revamp and go back to what they were a few years ago when most of the positive comments were posted. Also a few visits ago,my wife was served the chicken rigis and they forgot to put the chicken in the dish. P.S. I never tell them it is a special occasion such as birthday because their staff congratulation custom is way too loud and very annoying.
We called ahead to Delmonico's to see how long the wait was; we were told 45 minutes and the hostess would put our name down for express seating. When we arrived we were told by the people waiting for seats that they had been there for an HOUR and 45 minutes. So the hostess fibbed to make sure we would come in. We turned right around and left. We went back the following week at an earlier time to get a seat. The waitress was not quite rude to us, but we could see her being friendly and more accomidating to her other tables, so I don't understand why we got the cold shoulder. We then ordered our meal which was incredibly subpar. The mushrooms tasted weird, the mashed potatos were so-so and the steaks were average. I ordered a dessert to go and they put only half the dessert in the box (it was missing a whole bunch of things). Definitely not worth the money to eat here. There are much better restaurants just down the road that cost a whole lot less and have much better tasting food.
I have been going to Delmos since it’s opening 10+ years ago. I have yet to find one reason to complain except for my expanded waistline. From the hostess to the eager to please managers, the staff is unbelievably accommodating. I can’t comment on most the food there as I have only had one item. I always get the chicken parm, grilled not fried with the vodka sauce. Ask to have the kitchen manager Chris make the vodka sauce. It is unbelievable. Be sure to meet Brian, I think he runs the place…he’ll take care of you. Unbelievable experience.
As a Sales Professional I travel and have eaten at some of the finest restaurants and Delmonico's Italian Steakhouse in Syracuse joins my short list of Great places to eat.
The Shrimp Scampi special & Calamari appetizer was fantastic. The special – Filet Sinatra was cooked to perfection and they did a special mix grill, first time request for the chef also, substitute that was one of the best dishes ever served. It was mouth-watering, and they made the dish for me as requested even though the place was extremely busy. Yes, we waited – no reservations and walked it - but it was well worth the wait and like we did you can always have an appetizer or two at the bar and relax with a drink. Thank you Brian and special thanks to Vito & the Bar Staff for making our evening out a night to remember. We will be back.
i went here twice, the first time i got sick off their food and they sent us 2 gift certificates. The second time i went to give them another chance the food was still horrible. The atmosphere and theme of the place is nice but the food is horrible and over priced for the quality.
in September of 2006 I wrote on Delmonico's: This is one of our favorite steak places in Syracuse. You cannot beat the price per servings and the fun atmosphere. Tiramisu is EXCELLENT!
I am updating my review of Delmonico's because my last two visits this spring and summer 2007 were less than stellar....
I ordered clearly and received different steaks now on two visits in a row. The staff made it up quickly offering a free dessert. Tiramisu which is still EXCELLENT! However, it is really uncomfortable going out to dinner on special occasions with my husband and being served well after his meal. So I am changing my rating to Poor... if I try again and get poor service I will update again.
Really sad, Delmonicos is a fun atmosphere but I am paying for good food and service which is equally important to me.
I ordered a 'Delmonico' sent it back 3 times due to the white color of my medium rare steak. It also had more grizzlw than strange white meat. I left after the third time they brought it out the same way. I will not eat at that place
Asti began as a 30 seat trattoria. Its menu included homemade soups, salads, wraps and sandwiches, pasta varieties and a
sizable list of entrees. Chicken or veal specialties, created in the Francese, Parmigiana, Marsala, Marinara or Saltimbocca methods, are ...
