my hubby and I went there when we first moved to the area as it was recommended. It wasnt even real mexican food and my hubby and I got severe food poisoning. The service was HORRIBLE and the chips were stale. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE
Unless you want to stand at the door watching others eat while looking at empty tables, DON'T GO THERE! There is no parking and you circle and circle until you finally get a spot and find the rest of your party is standing watching tables for 4 going to parties of 2 until nothing is left. Having been there so long watching, I became expert on their food. I've been to Mexico many times and lived in Panama, as well as having spent lot's of time in Arizona and California eating great Mexican food. This isn't one of them. No great smells to savor and very ordinary looking plates. The place is attractive but lacks warmth. The host was rude and very unprofessional. We decided to leave and spend our money elsewhere. I'd give this a place one star for trying to renovate an old building, but surely don't think it is worth the time or money.
I have gone to the Mission many times. The food is great! You get it the way you order it. It's never been way too spicey like other places. The decor is perfect and the staff are the best! I would definitely recommend this to anyone visiting Syracuse
This was my first visit to the mission, and i was impressed with the decor of the eatery .... The food was average at best ( after a few drinks it got better ) , but what really caught my eye was our waitresses attire !!! I was with my boyfriend and my only fear was when she served us our burritos , she might just serve us a lil bit more. If you're a guy hoping to see more than you eat , THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU !! But if you're looking for mexican food ... try elsewhere
Now I might be bias with this opinion because I know most of the staff here but this place has class! The food is all original ideas from the owner Steve and the decor is very intriguing. Not to mention the history behind this building. The Underground Railroad actually led into the basement of this place, how cool is that? This place is top notch.
The Mission is such a cool place - my favorite meal is the chicken burrito with the Chipotle salsa & a mojito. The building is historic, the wait staff are attentive, and I am never disappointed with my meal. A typical dinner for two, including a $5 drink, is right around $40...not too bad. I highly recommend it.
The food is wonderful..try anything and you will not be dissapointed. The staff is friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The only drawback is that this place is so good that on nights that have something going on in the area (hockey or SSO, for example) the wait can be long and the bar fills up fast, literally leaving no place for patrons to wait.
