Ordered the Fri. lunch special salad/half haddock sandwich. I asked if haddock was fresh or previously frozen. Waitress assured me it was fresh. The piece looked like it was portioned, breaded and frozen. Breading was like cardboard, fish dry, gray, and it tasted terrible. By the time I got the attention of the waitress my companion was nearly finished with her meal so I didn't order anything else. Waitress never even said sorry. The only good thing was I wasn't charged for that terrible meal.
Santangelo's is probably the best Italian restaurant in the Syracuse area. The atmosphere is very classy and the service is prompt and friendly. The fresh bread they provide when you first sit down is heavenly. Some items on the dinner menu can be pricey but the sandwiches on the lunch menu are among the best bargains in town (my favorite is the Chicken Parm sandwich). I have yet to be disappointed by anything I've had at this restaurant.
If you're reading this review and thinking about going to Dominick's, do yourself a favor and go to Santangelo's instead. You may pay a little more but the superior service and food is more than worth it.
The food is great. Service seems pretty good too.. Only problem I ever had was one time I had reservations to go there but called to cancel because of a blizzard and the girl that answered the phone gave me a total attitude when I cancelled.
This is a high quality local restaurant with great food and excellent friendly service. Call for reservations. Dress is business casual, though there were some dressed down diners. Few if any college students. The base cuisine is Italian, but high level not just a pasta and meatballs place. The veal and the steak marsala was very good as was the appetizer sampler...especially the fried mozerella.
I go to Santangelo's for lunch oftern and I have taken many clients there for lunch. During the lunch service, I have never had to wait for a table, and the place is about 3/4 full. The food is delicious, and one of my favorites is the soup served in a huge Italian bread bowl! The atmosphere is great, and I often joke that it may well be the only place in Liverpool with cloth table linens? It is amazing how it remains an atmosphere suitable for anything from kids to clients... I have seen many a large party celebrating a work related event such as an anniversary or retirement. As for service, let me tell you it's great! On one occasion I met my friend there for my birthday and she came in with a gift and a balloon. Our waitress asked what the celebration was, whicih in itself was very nice. But we were surprised at the end of the meal with a complimentary peice of cake! To sum it up, whether you want a romantic dinner in the evening (I suggest you make reservations) or a nice place to take a client for a business lunch - Santangelo's is the perfect choice.
Santangelos Restaurant is a neighborhood Italian restaurant. It's a family business well-known to Liverpool locals. It is a great place for a romantic dinner yet also very kid friendly. The fresh bread, calimari, soups, and homemade pastas are a particular delite. You'll pay a little more here but you will have an awesome experience that is worth the difference. Reservations recommended.
