Sunset Restrnt, Auburn

Maybe it is because we went on a busy night but the service was horrible and the food wasn't much better. within minutes after showing up, the hostess came and flipped out on the person taking our reservations. It was very unprofessional and just a prelude for the rest of the night. We felt neglected by our waitress who was busy running back and forth fetching a lot of forgotten orders from various other tables. Our appetizers were missing sauces and no telling how old the cocktail sauce was sitting out based on how dry it looked. It took over 45 minutes before we even placed our order but I must admit that the food came out promptly after. I ordered an expensive prime rib, medium well and lobster tail. The rib was too raw to cut with my knife and lobster tail was way overdone, rubbery and unedible. Towards the end of the night we also noticed that the staff were filling pitchers of water out of some plastic 5 gal. bucket sitting at the end of the room. That alone was enough to discust everyone in our party. When we were done we had to find our own to go boxes. I elected not to even bother boxing up my barely touched meal. I am giving this venue 2 stars because everyone else found thier food to be satisfactory although not overly impressive for the price. We all agreed that the service was very unprofessional and our biggest disapointment.

Great spot for a nice lunch. They have daily specials and a menu with great variety.

Great family owned restaurant and an above average reception hall as well. I enjoy almost everything I've had at the Sunset. Prices have gone up from the ridiculously low prices of a couple of years ago but still very reasonable. I recommend the shrimp and scallop pasta. Good bar area as well and the fish tanks are a nice touch.

The food at the Sunset is quite exceptional. However, when combined with price and the less than effecient wait staff, it makes for a poor choice when going for the total package. This is not a family oriented resturant and I would highly recomend another establishment when dining with the children.
