Mare Lounge, Saratoga Springs

A pretentious place that tries too hard. The prices were very high for what we got. I did love the big red couches out side to lounge in. The decor was interesting.

The best club in town PERIOD!! Best interior. Very comfortable and great music. A real High Class place!

First, I have never eaten a meal at Mare, so this is strictly a review of the drinking scene. The Pros: The interior is posh and looks like it could have been airlifted from LA. I think Mare is a great place for a very special date, when that very special something is worth paying $9-15 a drink. For me, it is a cool place for a nightcap, but I will go after i've enjoyed cheap drinks elsewhere, or pre-partied at the house. What I don't like is that outside on the well adorned patio you get drinks in a super cheap plastic cup, too reminiscent of an amateur house party. I understand the whole 'no glass on the patio' concept, but c'mon Mare there are more posh options than Dixie. Step up your game! especially when I just paid $9 for a vodka/ginger...

The only place in town with a stiff cover charge, you'll see why when you step inside. The interior designers have gone all out here, with different areas sporting distinct styles. The highlight is the quiet "lounge" on the 2nd floor with lush velvet wall coverings. The bar downstairs could be a sci-fi movie set. There's a house-music dance room, too, of course, with DJ's imported from the City. Definitely an upscale crowd, and there is a dress code. If you have the dough and you want to really impress your date, this is the place.
