Barnaby's Restaurant & Bar
Barnabys Steakhouse is located in the historic Village Hall, formerly a 500-seat theater built by the New Paltz Literary Association in 1863. The building is constructed of local bricks made by the A.M. Low Brickyard, which operated as the Lowe Brick Company until 1928. Village Hall served as the communityac2s cultural and social center from 1863 to 1929. Lyceum lecture courses, public and private dances, vaudeville acts, operettas, plays, church and community benefits and music recitals were all held on the upper level. It also showed both New Paltzac2s first silent films, and its first talkies.
The place was cute so i was thinking the food would be good... yea ...no!! i ve eatenout at a lot of places and i can honestly say THIS WAS THE WORST MEAL I HAVE EVER HAD OUT TO DINNER. The swordfish with mojito sauce was nothing short of INCONSUMABLE. when i first tasted it i thought i was going to vomit... it tasted like someone spilled a drink on my food. whats worse it is it TERRIBLY overcooked... no one even asked how i wanted it cooked, which PS. Barnabys is kinda important. Decor=great, service=good, food= GROSS~!
Barnaby's is a very nice looking place. It has some exposed brick and stone walls and paneled booths with tiffany lamps. We had one of the dinner salads and a kobe burger. The food and service were very good on a Thursday evening .
Special Graduation Day Menu. Very limited selection, all over priced. When the food arrived half of the meals were cold. When mentioned it to the waitress she just stood there looking dumbfounded. Asked for a glass of water which must have been to difficult of a task because I never received it. Asked to speak to the manager and was sent another waitress. Only after paying and on the way out was I able to find a manager. He stated he would let the owner know. Small consolation. Definitely not worth it on graduation day.
This place makes you wait over an hour for your food. Then charge you more then the food is worth. What a shame because the food was not too bad. But not worth the wait at all. No manager to talk to about wait or anything else. First and last time we will go to to Barnaby's in New Paltz. Not to mention they charged more then wait was authorized on teh credit card. Very rude staff to deal with!!!!
