Spectrum 8 Theatres, Albany

Love this place. It's very old without stadium seating but thats just a minor inconvenience. Everything is priced reasonably and they even have cake at the concession stand. They also play great movies - like the ones that arent main stream.

Love this theater and agree the main draw is NO KIDS texting, talking, fighting during the films. Plus cheesecake and coffee, mainstream mixed with art house movies... makes it a great night out. The seats are even more comfortable than Crossgates. Surrounding area is kinda gross, but feels like trip to city for me.

This really is a fantastic theater!! I wish the neighborhood would improve!

When you can get cake and vegan cookies at the concession stand why go anywhere else? Convenient location, large parking lot and a variety of nearby eateries make it a great spot. Movies for grown ups, with some major releases thrown in make it the place for movie lovers. An enjoyable variety of foreign, independent and commercial offerings insure that the 8 screen Spectrum will have something for most viewers. A new plus, the Ultraviolet Cafe for coffee and tea and panini :) See you there.

Great atmosphere, relaxing. The staff is warm and friendly. Can watch both some mainstream and independent films. The butter for the popcorn is real!! And you have to try the mint brownies.

The Spectrum has always been an oasis in a desert of shopping mall theaters in this area. They show the best in avante garde and foreign films and support and encourage local filmmakers by providing a venue for locally produced films. They host film festivals and now offer a snazzy cafe to relax in and grab a bite before the show. The people who work there even have real personalities! They make eye contact with you, unlike the living dead employees of so many other places.
