We had read mixed reviews on this restaurant, so we headed out with an open mind.
There were a few people at the bar and a few at the tables when we arrived at the restaurant. The hostess sat us right away and the wait was almost non-existent for our waiter to show up. He was very knowledgeable of the items on the menu.
We ordered two glasses of house wine. We are big on New York wines (support the local economy) and were dismayed to see only 1 New York wine on the the wine list.
We chose as an appetizer raw blue point oysters on the half shell and the soup of the day Seafood Bisque. The oysters were excellent and fresh. Our soup I can't rave enough about. It was the best seafood bisque I have ever had. If I hadn't already ordered my dinner, I probably would have just ordered a bowl of this soup for my meal! Also served with a meal is hot bread shaped like a lobster claw. Pretty cool. The bread was fresh and excellant and the basket was refilled when empty.
For our meals, we ordered Baked Stuffed Haddock and Broiled scallops. Sides were roasted red potato, sweet potato fries and cole slaw. Our entres arrived hot shortly after our appetizer dishes were removed. Both entres were excellent and just right portions.
By time we were finished and ready to head out, the restaurant was full and the bar had few empty seats. It seems a popular place to eat and rightly so. Excellant food, moderately priced (its seafood, pricey anyways compared to pasta) and good service.
We are planning a day trip back to the area to do some site seeing and stop back at Real Seafood for dinner!
