We went to Lanzi s yesterday with another couple to celebrate 2 birthdays - sat out on the patio - the weather was perfect. That s all that was perfect.
I got the chicken parm with eggplant - I don t know what was wrong with the chicken - it was a hard piece of something (????) that I could barely cut. The breading was excessive - so disappointing - eggplant was hard to find. I didn t say anything because the other couple suggested the restaurant and I didn t want to be negative about their choice. The prices are too high. I noticed other people were getting salads and burgers, obviously lesser priced options. If only we knew there was another menu! We won t be back. We won t recommend.
Another horrible over priced meal at Lanzis on the Lake. This will be the last time I ever go to this establishment. Meal selection is decent, but nothing is fresh. All canned, watery sauces. Frozen pastas and meats. Our entrees were very under-seasoned and bland tasting. My wife and I had a glass of wine, one steak, and one vodka penne with shrimp. After the tasteless food (breadsticks were pretty good) the bill was $70!!!!! I have been to this restaurant about 6+ times now. It has always been the same. Only reason we went back was to use a gift card that I had received. I wish I re-gifted it to someone I didn't like. If you are in this area and want REAL fresh food, go to Jamie Scott's Downtowner in Gloversville. I guarantee you will never eat Lanzi's food again.
I am a restaurant lover! Have to say I wanted to go somewhere special for my birtyday - made reservations for (2) at 6:30. We got seated right away when we walked in. I was very impressed with the ambiance - the waitress served us our salad w/house dressing & bread sticks with in a few minitues of being seated. The best part of the salad was the bread sticks. The salad tasted like they just took it out of a salad bag. Nothing to brag about. Usually that is a tip that the rest of the meal isn't going to be great. Waitress had to keep reassuring us that our meal was on it's way. We finally got served with our dinner at 7:50. The people behind our table got their dinner before us - they came in way after us. When our dinner arrived it was cold- I mean cold! We were definately not going to eat it after that - spoke to the Manager - he was very nice about it - we explained - we were definately not hungry at this point anymore and left! This was a bad experience - will never ever go back! It's to bad cause the atmosphere is definately a nice one!
The best place to eat in all of upstate NY!! I have throughly enjoyed every meal that I have ever eaten here. My wife and I try to come here at least once a month!! Beautiful restaurant inside and out. The outside deck overlooks the Sacandaga and in those cold winter months, the interior is very inviting with a nice warm fireplace on the right wall. Waitstaff is always friendly and takes care of you. Now for the food!! Even the breadsticks and salad are way above average. The house dressing is out of this world and you can buy it by the bottle when you leave as well!! For appetizers, the chicken wings are extremely good and the shrimp cocktail, even though a little pricey is very good. The shrimp are so big it feels like you are eating a lobster tail or something. My favorite meal by far is the NY Strip steak. I have it cooked medium and it is always done perfectly!! The seasonings are perfect as well. Usually after the salad and breadsticks I can only finish half but the other half will be just as good the next day!! The filet mignon is the most tender piece of meat you could ever ask for. Very soft, you can cut it with your fork. I enjoyed it but it lacked the seasoning of the NY strip, that is of course just my opinion but if the filey just had a little more spice I think it would have been out of this world. The lobster ravioli are also a top pick for me. It doesn't look like much when you are served but these homemade ravioli are so packed of lobster you do have troube finishing off the plate. Lanzi's also has one of the best prime ribs that you will ever taste!! You will not be sorry here no matter what you order!!
One of the Best Lake front views on the Great Sacandaga Lake with a fabulous outdoor deck! Enjoy authentic Italian and American food. When ordering an appetizer don't overlook my favorite - Blackened Yellow fin Tuna served over baby greens with a teriyaki sauce. A real treat! Courtesy Docks Available.
Lanzi's is simply a must try! The food is exquisite with options to satisfy any tastebuds and the portions are plenty big to make sure you're full and often have leftovers. The indoor and outdoor seating is beautiful boasting you views of the Sacandage Lake as you sit 60feet from the waters edge. Marina with docks to arrive by boat in the summer for the ultimate dining experience in the area! It can be busy on summer weekends, call ahead on weekends for a reservation. Huge capacity though, so a big crowd doesn't take much for Lanzi's to handle. The staff were friendly and attentive on all of my visits and the owner Lou Lanzi is someone you will most likely meet during your visit. He is a wonderful man who adds to the overall experience!
Lanzi is upscale and rumoured to be selling thier beautiful property. The Lanzi brothers (5) run this place and Sport's Island Pub nearby. These guys know food and this place proves it. The resturant is drop dead gorgious with a rustic interior and a huge fireplace. It's floor to ceiling glass doors over look the popular open terrace (covered and heated) which beyond is the great lawn that leads to the beautiful docks. The food a mix of American chops, steaks and pasta entrees are reasonably priced 16-27$$ for what you receive. The down side is the service at the interior tables as the wait staff are teenagers whom are somtimes inattentive and disappear for long periods of time. There is a large bar with sports on the large screens, a large private room and recently on the lawn to the side of the building, an enormous tent set up presumably for a wedding - an ideal spot for such an event if the weather cooperates. In all the food is well preparded, always to preference and never missed in the past for us. Get there early, as the dinning hour winds down by 10pm in this area. The bar does stay open early. A special place, special food is only marred by the wait staff - whom are friendly but seem to cover tables inside and out causing the inattentivness. That wont spoil your outing here but leads some to wonder if 1 of the Lanzi brothers managing the staff is dropping the ball these days.
