This is the best pie/sweet shop in New York state, and I am a food critic that travels around the state looking for the best pies! Nothing even comes close to the delicious pies found here! And I think the review by ' energy2 ' below is becuse he went to the wrong place!
We have been to Briermere twice in the past 3 weeks and both times we were very satisfied. We bought tomato plants, produce and baked goods. The produce was really good quality and worth the price of locally grown! The pie we bought the first time was apple. It was freshly made and still warm. We brought it to my sisters and put some ice cream on top and it was one of the most enjoyable pies we have ever had. We went back this past Saturday and bought another apple for my sister and also the apple crumb. We had the apple crumb for dinner and it was also amazing. My sister and her husband enjoyed their apple pie immensely. My husband and I love their crunchy cookies. Have not been disappointed in any of their items. Plan to go back again and again.
THIS PLACE IS HAS THE BEST PIE I EVER TASTED!! WE BOUGHT THE BLUEBERRY AND IT WAS SOO DELICIOUS ALL OF MY FAMILY MEMBERS LOVED IT. THE PIE WAS FULL OF FRESH BLUEBERRIES AND THE CRUST WAS FLAKEY AND DELICIOUS. DO NOT LISTEN TO THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS GO AND BUY A PIE AND SEE FOR YOURSELF YOU WILL NOT BE DISSAPOINTED
I FEEL BAD FOR ALL OF YOU WHO WASTE YOUR TIME ON LINE FOR NOTHING. ITS NOT WORTH THE TRIP OR THE MONEY FOR ANY BAKED GOODS THEY SELL,WAIT TILL YOU GET ALL THE WAY HOME TO ENJOY AN OLD PIE OR A HARD COOKIE!! SHAME ON YOU FOR NOT MAKING SURE YOUR CUSTOMERS DONT GET FRESH HOME MADE PIES AND YOU KNOW YOUR USING CHEAP INGREDIENTS !! I THINK THEY SWITCHED OWNERS ALONG THE WAY . ONLY A FOOL WOULD RUIN A GOOD THING*****
I had the pleasure of celebrating this years Fourth of July at a friends country home on the North Fork. Both nights we were there, they served this out of this world pie. It was literally the best pie I've ever had. First, the peach pie, which wasn't too sweet with a perfect flaky crust then an amazing strawberry rhubarb. Ignore the naysayers, this places pies are rockin'! Every place has a bad day or streak, perhaps that explain some of the less flattering review. If it weren't so far from me, I'd be there picking up a pie for every occasion. I had to stop by there and pick one up to bring home...no regrets people..none.
I am a bit perplexed by the negative reviews of the pies. I visited the stand on June 13th 2009 and bought a blueberry cream pie and an apple pie. Both pies were beyond my expectations. There were superb. They were very fresh, not sticky sweet, crust was flaky and delicious. I do not know where others buy pie and what they expect but I do know this is the best pie I have had on Long Island.
We've been enjoying Briermere pies since 1990. Hadn't bought a pie in quite a few years. Decided to drive out last Wed to get an Apple Crumb pie for hubby's birthday. Was disappointed at the quality of not only the pie but other baked goods we bought as well. I nearly broke a tooth on super hard crumbs that were on top of the pie. I will stick with pies from Lacorte's Farmstand in Center Moriches.
I have been visiting Briermere's and buying their products since 1982. There is no way to describe the drop in their quality level since then. The pies used to be the best in the world and now are the worst in the neighborhood. If you still want a great home baked pie go visit the Modern Cafe in Aquebogue. What is still of value at BF is their fresh produce and some of their jams.
For many years these pies were the absolute best, especially the blueberry. I am very sad to say that on the last few occasions I purchased them, the pies have been mediocre at best, certainly not worth the price. Another review said the pies are massed produced now which would explain the drop in quality.
I had an apple pie from Briermere Farms on Thanksgiving. It was completely mediocre. This place was renowned for its pies so I was pretty disappointed. I rated it as poor relative to the expectation. A supermarket pie is better tasting.
