Ok, I don't know what restaurant the other people who rated this place went to, but Mama's in Copiague is the best Italian place you'll ever wrap your lips around! I've been going to this place my ENTIRE life...literally...since I was able to sit in a high-chair and the food and service has always been GREAT! My family used to have pizza night every Friday, and there was never a question of where we were ordering/picking up from. I know the owners very well and they are just as down to earth as anyone else and are ready to cater to your every whim. They have a HUGE selection of Pizzas, calzones, and rice balls and I truly recommed a side of their pepperoni and broccoli rolls...mmmm...to die for! If you're in the mood to sit and eat in the restaurant section, I would recommend the veal florentine! It is FANTASTIC as is their steak! Please understand that this is a family owned restuarant and many of the servers are related which makes for a really cozy atmosphere. Be ware though, you will most likely have to wait about 10 minutes for a table especially if it is on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday evening because alot of regulars come in as well as first timers out for the night. I love this place and you will too!
I lived behind Mamas for 10 years. I ate there as often as I could. I now live in NC...if I could eat anything on the earth just once more before I die, I would have a big bowl of Mamas Pasta Faglioili soup. I have experienced grace meltdowns also..I would still kill for that soup. Come here to Charlotte and you wont care about grace meltdowns..there is nothing to eat here.
I would like to start by saying what a beautiful job they did on the renovations. I have been coming to mamas for several years now and i have yet to be disapointed. The food keeps getting better and after reading some of the previous reviews I would have to agree that the service could be better. A smile here and there wouldnt hurt but overaall mamas is a must dine restaurant. I guarantee you will not be disappointed.
I and my family went to mamas on new years eve past. As always the food was excellent and priced fairly. The service was superb. We were greeted by one of the owners. We had reservations and they were hnonored in a timily manner. Our waiter who sounded very much like father Guido Saldcucci from saturday night life past was probably the best server I ever had.
This place was fantastic. Yeah the wait was a little long, but the staff and food were both excellent.
I think the problem with most people here leaving bad reviews is that they aren't personable enough with the staff.
i have to agree with everyone else. i thought the food was alot better before the renovations. we complained about the clams and were told they were premade, like they were frozen? that was coming from the waitress! the staff cannot handle the big crowds and the service was terrible! we waited a half an hour for a slice of pizza for our son! not good business!!!
Possibly the best Italian food I have experienced outside of my Mom's. The price and the quanity were outstanding and the taste was amazing! Service was excellent, and atmosphere busy but private. Highly recommend.
Yes, Mamas is ALWAYS busy. Yes, You will have to wait no matter when you go andYes, the staff is not ALWAYS the most friendly. BUT the food is to die for. I really have enjoyed every trip to the restaurant & take out.
i agree with all the other reviews....the food is excellent, but the serivce is not great and noone smiles or says thank you. i often do feel as if they are doing ME a favor when i eat there. weather it is a sit down meal or a take out pizza, i feel as if i have made them go out of their way to serve me. and now when you sit down for a meal you get nickel and dimed to death with extra charges. i wanted extra dressing for my salad--it was a
$2.00 charge. my daughter needed extra sauce for her pasta- $3.00 extra charge! i'm surprised they haven't started to charge for the lemon i request in my water!
