What a find! It's worth the drive from wherever you are to this unconspicuous bastion of delectable food and hospitality that will make you feel like family. The salads are fresh, crisp, and delicious; the minestrone is full of fresh vegetables, and the pastas and sauces are as good if not better than any Italian grandmother's. This place is old school; the decor has the character of times gone by and the waiters wear vests and ties. If you're lucky enough to be there when Goldie is there, this treasure of a host will sit with you and make sure everything is to your liking and needs. I can still taste the red sauce, which seemed like it had simmered with love, and meatballs, whose seasoning and texture left me wishing I could devour another plate!
Walking into this restaurant is like walking back into time. Yes the decor is probably the same as it was when they opened 50 somewhat years ago but that's a testament of why they around as long as they are. The food here is very good and the portions are big. The owner and his wife make it a point to see to it that their customers are happy.
Big band music on Saturday's. I've had 2 parties in their private room
and both times, we were will taken care of. If you're into good food and friendly hosts, this is the place.
Goldie's Restaurant is so good that it has been there probably around 50 years (that I have been going there)! Same owner, and Goldie himself is a most wonderful and personable host. Classic, very delicious Italian food, generous portions. A fine evening in store for you!
