Best sushi on Long Island. The quality of the fish is second to none. If you want trendy Japanese food or something a little more western this is not the place for you. This is a spot for great traditional Japanese food. Customer for life.
I thought the food was very medicore and the staff was surprisingly rude. I went there with a friend and 2 of our well mannered children and we were certainly not welcomed. The waitstaff was curt and not attentive at all. I called to complain and they couldn't care less. I would never go back to that restaurant. Customer service is so important for the survival of any restaurant. A big thumbs down to Yamaguchi.
I take this very personally. I have been coming to Mrs Yamaguchi's restraunt for over 20yrs. I have been eating the same fantastic plate of food the entire time. I have introduced many relatives to the restraunt as well as friends and business associate's.
The meal I asked for was not given to me. I was corrected 3 times by the waitress that she was sure I was wrong. Too much food, she says. I can not entertain confrontation because of my health conditions. I wanted to share a plate with my oldest son but that moment was taken from me. I can not afford another $130 to go and try again and the one day that I have availible is after seeing the doctor and being on a machine all day.
I spoke personally to Mrs Yamaguchi not going into medical reasons but explaining how important this meal was to me. She knew me by name and returned my call from home within minutes of my calling the restraunt. I was told it was a mistake of the waitress's and they would try to help better in the future when I return.
Well it won't be for 2 more years (God willing) and I am not sure I feel comfortable any more with being a client of this restraunt. I feel sorry to have to write this after 20+ yrs of service, but the moment that was taken from me is something she can not ever give me back.
