This place is the best! Great nightlife, Great Food, priced right! Fairest prices in NYC! Nicest staff. The bar staff will remember you, your name and what you drank the last time you came in! I will be back again - this weekend.
What makes this place an Irish Pub is the people who work there and the patrons. Good food, excellent choice of Whiskey. Not to much on Tap but how many do you need really. You can watch a game, football (or soccer depending on where your from) is always available if there is a game to be watched. So you can sit, have a pint, a friendly chat and just relax. You can take the subway to 96th Street and walk there, you can easily catch a cab as well.
I visited this place a few times because my friend insisted and I was amazed at the lousy food, service, and ambiance.
FOOD: the food came right away (good) which I discovered was because it was all previously cooked and simply reheated. The fish and chips were dark brown and smoky from having been deep-fried several times.
SERVICE: Awful. The beer was good but we only got one glass. Once the imported, icy, Irish wait-staff took our order they never talked to us again. They'd file back and forth from the backroom to the bar and ignore the tables. We had our one beer with the food and wanted a second. We couldn't get the servers' attention and they didn't ask us if we wanted a second or even if we wanted a bill. After being there for 45 minutes, I just wanted the check so we could leave and get a beer somewhere else. I had to go into the back room and tap someone on the shoulder who agreed to give me the bill. The appropriate tip would have been zero cents.
AMBIANCE: One more traditional Irish Pub with the traditional blaring, conversation killing music competing with the traditional six plasma screen TVs.
Its a great great place. Between the behind the bar open welcome and Irish charm of Pauline and the other staff; the great ideas and attention to detail of Frank the owner; the amazing selection of beers and single malts [one of the few places in New York city where i can get my favorite beer Anchor Liberty Ale, fresh on tap]; the always fresh fish and chips; their legendary dishes such as the superburger, shepherds pie and Irish breakfast [best on Sundays with home fries]; more and more; one of the few best quality Guinness pints in NYC; large 20oz beer glasses [not the usual much smaller US one]; very reasonable prices; indeed who could ask for more.
I love the Kinsale! This place has always been great but now its even better because they now have a video DJ on weekends. Its the perfect place for it because walls are practically covered with flat screen tvs.So cool to see the newest videos as well as old ones too- (weird to Michael Jackson's Thriller videos today!!). I highly recommend this place!! The crowd is very friendly and the atmosphere is awesome.
The Kinsale is the place to be!!! This is a great place for all - great place for groups of friends and great place for people to go in alone. The staff is very friendly, so you will feel right at home. The beer is SOOOOOO good! The food is Excellent and priced right! I love this place and can not wait to go back!
