The Most Comfortable Beds In The World !
By Sylvester, 4/23/09
Arrived Easter Sunday. Took five minutes to find out reception on 8th floor. Entrance area littered with young student type people sprawled out on the floor, so it was a bit of a struggle to get to the lifts. Check-in was smooth and efficient. Pleasantly surprised by the spacious, well furnished room we were given on 22nd floor - two queen beds, two comfortable arm-chairs and a very comfortable desk-chair. The bathroom was also spacious and well stocked with towels, soap etc., and the shower easy to control and operate. There was also ample storage space for clothes, luggage and all the little bits and pieces we tend to take on holiday these days. the room also boasted a large, flat screen television and a coffe/tea machine with a reasonable supply of the required ingredients. Being a bit jet-lagged from our flight from the UK we retired at 7.30 pm, expecting (as usually happens on these trips) to awaken fully refreshed a few hours later (particularly myself, as I am a bit of an insomniac and only sleep about four hours a night at home). I was therefore absolutely gobsmacked when I woke up and discovered it was 5.00 am and that I had actually slept solidly for over 9 hours ; moreover, after going downstais for a 'ciggy' (crap NY City laws) I came back up to bed (which was somehow still warm !) and promptly fell fast asleep again until 9.00am - which was when my equally gobsmacked wife awoke from her slumbers. Absolutely amazing ! The second, and regretfully final, night's sleep was just as good and equally as uncanny as the first. My wife, being the inquisitive type, discovered that the beds were equipped with a kind of thin over-mattress which seemed to both adjust itself to our body shapes as well as retain its warmth for quite a lengthy period of time when not occupied. Our only real complaint about the Marriot Marquis is the fact that it cost $63 for 2 full American breakfasts - which is more than we paid for any other meal during our short stay in the City. The waitress did not explain that the coffee and fruit juces were 'extras', or that the 'buffet' option would have been a lot cheaper and quicker (we waited half-an-hour for our food), so her tip of 50 cents was, in my opinion, a little over-generous. All in all, therefore, with its close proximity to all of central Manhattan's major attractions and shopping venues, the comfortably spacious rooms and those fantastic beds I would certainly recommend the Marriot Marquis to anyone planning a visit to New York City.

Not worth the money!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/22/09
The best thing about this hotel was the bedding. Very nice. The staff were not that courteous, when you had a question or concern. The room was very hot, and the maintenance team did not want to come and check the problem. It was very inconvenient as far as getting snacks on the streets like the famous New York pizza and other treats if you wanted for later, because there was no frig or microwave in the room. I paid 1300.00 including tax for 3 nights, so it would have been nice to get these conveniences. The elevator system is a joke, and the time it take to catch one is not worth coming out of your room. The valets are wonderful at getting taxi's for the quests and leaving this hotel was the past part of the trip. Would not ever book again. One plus, in particular is an affordable place to eat, Junior's right accross the street.

Wonderful hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/2/08
This hotel seems awesome. I want to see the potted plants in the lobby; I bet they're so lifelike and well cared for. I wonder if they're organic. I didn't actually stay here - my brother did; but he loved it.

Great experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/22/08
I really enjoyed this hotel. The bar located around the 12th floor was a fun location to watch the chaos of times square. In the past, I've stayed at hotels located closer to Central Park, but realized I was waiting for cabs half the time in the evening. Nice to walk to all the shows and great restaurants. Much easier to cab or walk during the day up to the park. I would recommend this to others and plan to return. Gym was great with terrific views, hotel staff efficient, easy lobby location to print out boarding passes, etc. I reserved early and paid under $300 a night, so absolutely worth the price and I will visit again. Tip: Juniors deli is across the street and a favorite local lunch place with the best cheesecake in the world. They deliver direct to your room.
