had some food here.... was pretty good but not great. and for all of you arguing that you need to come to south to have a better BBQ, aren't we just looking for a good BBQ place in NYC? i mean, i'm not about to fly down there to just have BBQ. from the choices i have up in NYC, people are saying virgil's have some good BBQ. that said, it's not really that great. even Dinosaur BBQ up in 130th was better than Virgil's. and yes, it's over priced, but that's the life in NYC. we pay more for many things, but overall, people make more money in NYC (this is statistics of course). i'd give 3 outta 5 at most for this place.

I was in NYC back in March, I have to say that even thou I enjoy the meal, it was way over priced. I like cheeseburger and fries just as much as the next person, but for 17 dollars it better come with a hit crack!!!

BBQ in NY? Funny: I guess if you are considereing BBQ in the north as anything relevant, Virgils is still only decent. Extremely overpriced for BBQ. Maybe on NY standards its low or moderately priced. But honestly.. what can you expect to get from a BBQ place in NY? Service was horrible... or course rude and pushy.. another NY standard. But once again, if that's what you're used to its not a big deal. To compare it to real southern food, or bbq, it was decent. After eating there I understood it is a chain, with resteraunts all over the US, including the south. I would have to bet the southern establishments are extremely better. I mean how many new yorkers want to walk around times square and broadway smelling the deep true smell of smoked food? You need all the other smells of trash, bums, and whatever other stench such as the middle eastern food stands that trash the streets up and down. Want real BBQ? Or think Virgils is good BBQ? Come to the south. But wait, we're all just a bunch of hillbillies anyways so what do we know. No way we're upper class like New Yorker's, no matter how rude and inconsiderate they choose to be. Virgil's did have some decent named drinks, such as the swamp juice, but like everything else it was nothing more than a name with the least amount of alchohol possible but of course a hefty price tag. So if you expect good BBQ and know what good BBQ is, wait to go back home and eat it. Otherwise.. try a great knockoff and eat at Virgils.

They dont smoke their meat!!! its not even real bbq! all they use is an oven an liquid smoke. There is a huge difference between grilling and real bbq'n. Get the fact straight people, might as well just go to tony roma's or applebees for some bbq while your at it .

Best BBQ around, train wreck fries are excellent, and the pulled pork sandwich.....you could have made 3 of them with the amount of pork they put on them, hands down the best bbq food....

I've lived in the South and I've enjoyed some of the best BBQ on Earth. Virgil's doesn't come close. I can describe my experience with Virgil's in two words: overseasoned & overcooked. Please understand that most restaurants in and around Times Square are tourist traps that don't necessarily need a lot of repeat business. If you find yourself in NYC with a strong hankerin' for BBQ, try Brother Jimmy's BBQ. It's the best I've tried so far. Also, forget about Blue Smoke -- it's hype machine far exceeds the abilities of it's kitchen. I've yet to try R.U.B. and Dinosaur BBQ, but I will let you know when I do. Until then, Brother Jimmy's is the only Manhattan BBQ I can confidently recommend.
