i was very cautious when going to virgils, being a barbecue place in times square. after eating there, all i could say was wow!! i got the pulled pork sandwich which was one of the best ive ever had (and ive had it in st louis, texas, kansas city)! we also got a side of macaroni and cheese and it was by far the absolute BEST mac and cheese i have ever eaten!!!! the service was excellent as well giving us warm hand towels (real towels) after we were done.for dessert, the chocolate pie was amazing as well! overall this is definitely one of the best barbecue restaurants ive ever eaten at!

I'm no BBQ expert, but the pulled pork sandwich was great. I liked it better than the ribs & chicken I had.

Have eaten here on several occasions. Although New York is probably the last thing that comes to mind when you think of BBQ, Virgil's is definitely worth checking out! The meat has a unique smoky flavor and just falls right off the bone. Their two sauces, regular and spicy, are delicious as well! As for the location, right at Times Square, the prices are actually pretty inexpensive considering. The Pig-Out meal consists of several kinds of meat. My favorite order is pork spare ribs and beef brisket! Man, that will fill you right on up! The best sides are baked beans, green beans (has bacon in it!), and their mashed potatoes with gravy aren't bad either. There are occasional celebrity sightings in there, too. If you ever find yourself in Manhattan and get a hinkering for BBQ, be sure to check out Virgil's BBQ!

Great BBQ place if you don't mind getting dirty. The meat is tender and sweet. Friendly service and great atmosphere

I'm from Charlotte, NC. We take barbecue seriously. Virgil's can hang with anyone in the game. The food and service are great, and very fast. The prices are incredible, considering the location. If you go to NYC, DO NOT MISS Virgils!

I have a hard time going to NYC without getting at least one order of their hush puppies with maple butter!

Wifey & I have 3 places we eat in Manhattan when attending the theatre, and Virgil's gets (by far) most of our business. Go, you won't leave with an empty stomach... will enjoy the food quality and professionalism of the staff... and maybe see a few celebrities seated right next to you! Try the 3 meat combo plate with beef brisket/baby back ribs/ and pulled pork. Mmmmmm !

Virgil's is a good choice for tourists, especially tourists with kids. The menu is full, the food choices ample. And, most importantly, the food is quite good. It's amazing how the Hard Rock and other McChains have proliferated at Times Square - and equally disturbing how they fill up with ungodly waits. You will wait at Virgil's - but not nearly as long. And the food is much MUCH better. I try to avoid Times Square area at all costs. But when the kids want to see the lights and feel the kinetic energy, Virgil's is a good place to fill your belly. But it is decidedly NOT A STEAKHOUSE!

Go hungry. This place had great pork sandwhiches and large tasty fries. Yum. I'd definitely go again.
