Serving authentic Italian cuisine, Basilica's pastas are always consistent and good. Just a short walk from the theater district, it is a choice spot for pre-theater dining. The narrow dining room is cozy and colorful, giving an air of warm Italian hospitality.Basilica offers two pasta menus, one imported and one fresh as well as a wide selection of salads, antipasti and secondi piatti (second plates). The pre-theater special includes appetizer, entree and dessert as well as a complementary bottle of wine.
This restaurant is fantastic and reasonably priced. The bolognese sauce was amazing. The homemade pasta is out of this world. This small restaurant is a gem. The servers were so attentive. I can't wait to go back. You can't go wrong at Basilica.
Been to New York in June 2005 and January 2006. We accidentally walked into Basilica in June, looking for Italian food in the crowded Hell's Kitchen area and staying in a hotel there. We thoroughly enjoyed it all. Very nice cosey little place, food is sooooo excellent and the waiters are very very nice and helpful. Good atmopshere. I remember having asparagus with parmezan and house ravioli... delicious! It was so good I took a friend to Basilica again in January and it was equally good. Told the waiter I was from Holland and came back to NY especially for Basilica, he found that very funny and said he very much appreciated my compliments. Friendly people, excellent food. When I go back (and I love NY so I will be there again soon) I will definitely visit Basilica again...
As you may know NYC is overflowing with italian restaurants! Basilica is by far my favorite of them all! It's small, it's cute, the waiters give you personal attention, the food smells and tastes great!! A very small setting (you can see the cooks in the back)!
Interior brick walls, dim lighting...
The entree's are affordable and delicious! Immediately when you are seated the waiter greets you and fills your table with fresh olives, thinly sliced Italian bread, and wonderful dipping oils! You can enjoy your dinner with a nice glass of wine and finish off with a wonderful dessert.
Perfect location if your evening plans are in the midtown/ times square area!
I Love Basilica's! I was introduced to it many years ago and ALWAYS recommend it to others! It's an inexpensive place to eat that is extremely charming. It's tiny so don't expect to always get it but the wait usually goes quickly. The food is very, very good especially for the price! I'm a 100% Italian cook myself and I give this place a High 90% out of 100%. 10% percent off for the size of the place and that's really it! Otherwise, it's a definite favorite of mine in ALL of NYC
