worst food in new york. fake italian
By ,
Like every tourist, I came and I thought that maybe there is some hope to this restaurant. I was wrong. The food is like tasting a bag of salt. I never ate anything that was that salty. The bread they served was cold. The cheesecake was even worse. The service was moderate. Please tell me if there is a real Italian restaurant in new york because I havent found one.

Anyone who is a true New Yorker cannot possibly be saying that Carmine's is the best Italian restaurant in NYC. It's all about quantity and not quality. It is mediocre at best - but that's what has happened all over America. Medicocre anything (music, food, tv, movies) is considered great. Now I live in the midwest, Minnesota, where quantity outweighs quality. I have not had one decent southern Italian meal since I left NYC. All you tourists - take a walk, burn some calories, and look for the better Italian restaurants.

The ABSOLUTE BEST FOOD/DEAL in town
By ,
The best. You can get one meal and split it between 2 people. Very economical, large portions and the absolute best. You will NEVER be disappointed.

A&E's Growing Up Gotti pushed Victoria's oldest son, Carmine to open up this restaurant, and yes, the name brought me here, but the FOOD will keep me coming back for more, mmmmmmmm, Midtown Manhattan's gem!!!

carmine's is simply the best
By ,
I can almost guarantee that the bad ratings are from people who are not Italians. I am Italian and was born in Italy. I can tell you without equivocation this is the best Italian restaurant I've ever frequented and I have eaten in hundreds of them. For those who don't like Carmine's, I would imagine you love franco american spaghetti in a can. Finally, for those complaining about prices, this is not your local McDonalds.

Good Food, Good Atmosphere, Decent Portions! It may not come with all the pizzazz of some of the other establishments of Manhattan, if you spend any time in New York City, this is a must! While there, you may want to check out Bella Napalm, my daughter’s favorite, and also a very decent, well priced restaurant in the heart of the city

fantastic

Carmines is my favorite restaurant to visit in New York. You get more food for your money than anywhere else. Five people can split 2 or 3 meals and still be full. The food is always delicious, no matter what you get, from the porterhouse to the linguini in clam sauce. Every visit is spectacular. There is often a long wait midtown, but you can put your name in, walk around and shop for a little while, and then go back. Or go to the bar and get an appetizer while you're waiting. If you go uptown, there is much less of a wait and it just as good. I highly recommend it.
