I read reviews and they were either good or bad, nothing in between, but since the place is right there where a lot of the night life is happening around the theatre district and time square, we gave it a try hoping for the best but getting ready for the worse, and I think the place is worth trying. Food was good but plenty, so eventhough is not the best I had, I had a lot of it. Service wasn't top of the line, but seems to be at the same level of similar priced restaurants in NY. The place is very nice and cool and because is big there is almost no waiting for a table, and the prices were pretty decent when you consider the amount of food served (similar to bucca di bepo). The only thing I must mention is that there is no free refill on the Ice Tea, so if you had three they'll charge you for three. I do recommend going there, and might go again. Again, not the best, but worth trying if you're hungry and you don't want to wait forever for a table and

After being highly recommended, I was left a bit disappointed. My favorite meals are usually with Alfredo or cream sauces which NONE are offered. What italian restaurant doesn't serve Alfredo!!! The Penne a la Vodka was extremely salty. The only positive thing I can say is skip dinner and go straight for the Tiramisu. It has to be the best tasting Tiramisu I've ever had.

If you've never been there, TWO PEOPLE PER MEAL. It is designed that way. It is a family style restaurant. I enjoy drinking the wine out of the small glasses. Go for the experience alone. You can also try the one at Tropicana in Atlantic City (Mirror Images of each other).

NOT SMILING-can't change my pic! LOL Just went there Sat.. We had the Veal Cutlet Parm.. We thought we were eating a patty because we could only taste the breading. Then we had a hard time finding the veal... when we did find the veal it was not all cooked through .The portions would feed 3 ppl.. We had it over pasta for an additional $10...which they don't tell you you can do until you ask if the entree's come with pasta. I am glad I asked because otherwise we would have ordered a pasta dish for 20 something dollars that would have been too much food for the two of us.Everything is a la carte unless stated otherwise. The service was good...although we heard our waiter argue with a patron when she said she only ordered one order of an appetizer and he brought her two. They brought us a basket of different breads right away and then quickly after we asked for another basket ...it was delivered. Our extra sauce was forgotten....but we didn't need to say anything, the waiter noticed it and brought is directly. It was VERY noisy. It is in a great area if you plan on seeing a show. If you feel the need to try it...make a reservation and save yourself some aggrevation.

I used to live on 90th and B'way, in the 90's, Used to go to Carmines at least once a week. They added a take out section. The food is so fresh, and the portions are huge, and the pasta is cooked perfectly, and if eating in -- the atmosphere is great. One thing I miss most (since I live in Los Angeles now), was being able to walk downstairs and get an order of Linguine & White Clam Sauce. I would walk away with a BUCKET. I kid you not, it was like a paint bucket sized order of pasta. Nothing compares to this place.

When we visit NYC, Carmine's is always on our list. Good food, good service - but plan to share your meal as the portions are sized for sharing. Great mojito made with the freshest mint. I'm no paid PR person, just a tourist :) Once their special was tuna with pesto - we now make it at home. Yum.

I've been to both locations quite a few times, with family and friends. The food is great, and there is always a doggie bag when we leave. This is a place you have to go with a large party, as the portions are huge. I have enjoyed Carmine's every time I have been there!!!!! It is a fun place, with outstanding food
