I am very disappointed with this restaurant we went there for late lunch THEY TURN US AWAY and REFUSED to seat us !....

Disappointment is the only word that describes my experience at Becco. The Sinfonia di Pasta must be a great moneymaker for the restaurant, but it reminded me of Tutti Americano...Piles of Olive Garden quality pasta that was like the rest of the food.....totally tasteless. The bread was stale and the bean puree had no flavor whatsoever. The Veal Chop was fried to perfection with no taste. I was totally surprised as I love Lidia. Tourist joint.

had lunch at becco's yesterday. on the way out my wife noticed that joe was sitting at a table next to the entrance. when she went up to him to comment on how she enjoys his restaurant and loves watching his family and mom on tv, he was not that personable or friendly. we were both very disappointed. we are regular customers at all his restaurants and i doubt very much if we will ever go back. if he's sitting there, he should be friendly and greet people who pay good money to eat at his restaurants.

My husband and I had an incredible dinner at Becco. It was our first trip to this restaurant of Lidia's. We have eaten at her other venues and enjoyed them all. The pasta tasting is an affordable and very enjoyable choice. Hubby had Osso Bucco. Incredible! The wine selection is everything you'd expect from Lidia's restaurant and the sommaliers are there to help you make a selection. The service was phenomenal, even on an extremely busy evening. Everyone from the hosts to the servers were very personable and accomodating. The only complaint is that we had reservations for 6:15 to make an 8:00 theatre show and we did not get seated until 6:40. That did rush us a bit more than we would have liked but we voiced our concerns and they reacted accordingly. Not an intimate setting if that's what you're looking for.

I went to Becco on Saturday evening (3/27/10) with my husband, friends and my sister. It was my sisters birthday and she was excited about eating in Lydia's restaurant. Well, after waiting a month to the day to go, every one of us was disappointed. The place was crowded and the hostess was rude. She told us to go to the bar which was next to impossible being it was so crowded. When we couldn't squeeze in she told us we couldn't stand near her area. Where she wanted us to go I don't know, so we were crammed in the doorway. Our 8:30 reservation turned into 9:15 when we got seated. They sat us right in the middle of the restaurant which was noisy and uncomfortable because there were people at the bar and everytime a waiter passed by us to get to a table they knocked into one of our chairs. By now we are totally frustrated. Once seated we decided to try and enjoy the rest of the evening and have a good meal. NOT!!! The food in this place was so bad I couldn't believe anyone would go back. The 3 pastas everyone raves about was terrible. One was a rigatoni with pesto which was just green water. The spaghetti with red sauce could have come out of a can. The risotto was the only save of this dish. My sister had a rack of lamb that was so tasteless she said if she was blindfolded all she could say was she was eating meat. My swordfish was so dry I couldn't eat it. We were all so disappointed we didn't even stay for coffee and dessert. We grabbed a check and left for another restaurant. I will never go back to BECCO!!

We went with family in celebration of my 60th birthday. A really fun, energetic, and friendly place. All the staff were efficient and very accomodating. The pasta deal with the 3 different pastas,all you can eat, were delicious. I do not like mushrooms so was passing on the mushroom ravioli till my daughter insisted I try it. Amazing!!!! The drinks and wine were top shelf and served by knowledgeable staff who seemed to enjoy their jobs. Would go back in a heartbeat.

Noisy and a lot of hustle and bustle. Food is good. But this is not the place to go to if your looking for a quiet dinner.

RUDE, RUDE, RUDE!!! I recommend going elsewhere...anywhere! Just don't go to Becco!

Becco came recommended to me by two different people. I am a big fan of Lydia Bastianich's cooking and I was looking forward to our dining experience. was disappointed though for a number of reasons. I found the restaurant to be very small and cramped with tables on top of each other, plus the restaurant was extremely noisy. The service was a little slow and unattentive (tea bags followed the hot water and tea cups about 10 minutes later). Perhaps because the wait staff knew we had already seen a show on Broadway is why our service was a little slow. Other tables were in and out much quicker than our table. We did not try the pasta, but my friends had mixed emotions about the food. The steak was well received, but I found the chicken with sunchokes and asparagus very bland - there was so much broth at the bottom of my plate, I thought I was eating chicken soup. With all the restaurants in NY, I don't think I would go back, nor would I necessarily recommend it.
