Mama Mexico
Description
Columbia University students and Upper West Side residents appreciate Mama Mexico for its authentic, reasonably priced Mexican fare and festive atmosphere. Of course there are also big margaritas, chips and Guacamole, but this is far from your typical spot when it comes to the wonderfully fresh and tasty cuisine. The colorful dining room is often crowded, especially on weekends, and praise for this restaurant is only continuing to grow. Try the combination seafood platter or any number of quesadillas, salads, soups, enchiladas, or fajitas.
My sister and I went to Mama Mexico and absolutely loved it. I got the jumbo shrimp special, and I have never eaten shrimp this large or delicious. You'll love it!
Noisy, crowded, average food. Drinks are good, fresh guacamole is really good and they will give you free tequila shots, cake and sing to you on your birthday. What more do you want?
This is one of the best mexican restaurants I've been to. The food is delicious and so is the ambiance. The food tastes like real mexican food and not like other restaurants. They have live music and the service is great. They are very attentive. It's a fun place to go. I recommend this place.
Yes, it is taboo to say there is good Mexican food in NYC, but everything is relative right...? But still, for decent Mexican food, you've got to be a little desperate to spend this kind of money.
Decent place, good service. I'm not too fond of Mexican, but a mate of mine is, so I insist on this place, as their menu includes two nice eggplant dishes, Enchiladas de Mi Pueblo and Berenjena Ranchera.
First clue? D'you see ANY Latinos chowing down? Crowd is a mixed bunch of former fraternity and sorority types downing margarita after margarita. Grub is truly a sad substitute for what is deemed AUTHENTIC mexican food. Being born & bred in southern CA, maybe I'm spoiled rotten by the taco trucks and burritos that are beyond belief. Quanity does NOT substitute for quality.
OH MY GOD!!! This is the worst place I've ever eaten in my life!! My wife and I ordered brunch. Hers came out long before mine and when mine came out (eggs benedict) the hollandaise sauce was baked into a dried mess. The servers were attentive but both dishes were just the worst food we've ever had.
Incredible experience. You should go try it out, and specially if anyone in the party is having a birthday. The food is delicious and the margaritas (endless flavors) the best ones in town! Pricing is fantastic for what you get. The one in 103rd is the best one.
