My friend and I visited my cousin in NY this past weekend after a long day of shopping we were STARVING!! We couldn't decide what to eat and since I haven't had Sylvia's in about 5 years or so I asked my cousin if she's had it since moving there last year and how was it. She liked it so that's where we went. Once we got there the host greeted us with opened arms. We were asked to give him a minute to get us seated. By the time we were done using the restroom (which has VERY small stalls) we were seated. The server came to the table not really wanting to be bothered, after we ordered our pitcher of iced tea she walked away but returned FULL OF LIFE and HAPPIER! That was VERY HELPFUL however, the iced tea was BITTER!!! The cornbread that they put on the table were good and hot. They even brought out another basket without our asking (I think that was by mistake but they left em). I had the smothered chicken (white meat), greens (w/turkey) and yams. EVERYTHING after the bitter iced tea was GREAT!!! My cousin had fried catfish, mac and cheese and yams. That mac was sooo cheesy and she said it was good. Infact, she said she was FULL but her food was soo good that she didn't wanna leave any behind! LOL! I've read some of the reviews and I understand the tourist thing they were mentioning. I'm the first to say I've NEVER had a GOOD FOOD experience while visiting NY!!! NEVER!!! This is my FIRST and I've been coming to NY for YEARS!!! I'm not tryna get into any email spats this is my OPINION!!! We we're charged the 18% tip others mentioned either. We left the $15 tip b/c we were happy with our food and our service!!!
