Amy Ruth's Restaurant, New York

The food was so good, I wanted to cry because I couldn't take the leftovers with me. I was going on a tour and hanging out the rest of the day before going back to the hotel in the evening. The greens were the best I've ever had!

The place looks dark and dingy inside. There was some kind of smell. When received our food the cronbread was dry. We ordered chicken wings, potato salad and collard greens. The greens tasted like they came out of a can, the chicken wings were dry and the potato salad was like mashed potatos. The honey dipped chicken had honey poured over it.

I booked a flight based on the recommendation of Al Roker from the Today Show. One morning during the show he recommended Amy Ruth's I decided to try the restaurant. Myself and a party of 5 flew to New York on yesterday to dine. The food was GREAT!!!! I ordered the Al Sharpton and ice tea. I enjoyed the atomosphere. It was well worth the trip!!!! Thanks Mohamed for the excellence in service. We WILL return!!!!

MOUTHGASM! The food was so good, I begin to yell after each bit upon intiating the first chew! I ordered, smothered chicken, mac and cheese, wafflies. The waffle is thick, make sure you order enough syrup. Depending on your luck, be prepared to wait at least an hour for your food. (especially if theyr'e busy) Mind you, I ordered at 1 AM and waited an hour for the food. You can sit and enjoy a magazine and take int he Harlem folks. This wait was one of the most worthy in all my ordering food and that includes Atlanta's Busy Bee on MLK Dr. The hospitality is good too. Be sure that you check your food before you leave as the employees are really busy and can get sidetracked! The neigbhorhood was okay. I went at 1 AM and felt very safe. The cost for the food is actually pretty decent given the portion of food they're going to give you. Be prepared to spend at least $15 on one entree, excluding dessert, which you will want-Red Velvet Cake, might I suggest? If you travel to NYC, take the FDR and exit @ 125th st.. 116th street West will put you directly back on the Expwy when you're ready to leave. Very convienient by foot or car.

I have been to Amy Ruth's 3 times this month, and am not over it yet! It is the best soul food I've had in NYC, period. Sunday is their busiest day (went last week and waited outside for 45 minutes in the pouring rain) but it's worth it for the smothered chicken!

This is my favorite soul food restaurant at the moment. The mac and cheese is amazing. Love the waffles with fried shrimp too.

I thought the food was very good. I had waffles my bud had fried chicken. A bit greasy but what did you expect? Lots of celebs have eatn here. And don't be afraid of the neighborhood, it was very mellow and just a block away from the 116th st red line subway station. Go to the outdoor african market while UR there.

If you are ever in Harlem on 113 W 116th Street, stop by Amy Ruth's. The food there is off the chain!!! I had the Afrikan Bambatta. Delicious!!!
