We ate here today for lunch. Overall the food was good, we had a burger and salad. The bill was a bit much, but I guess the location... but a $17 burger is a bit much for lunch. And also be prepared to pay for refiles for soda!!! I have never had that happen before!

Have read other reviews and I cannot comment on what it's like on a Friday or Saturday night but I can imagine anywhere that has a bar and is sports themed in New York will be packed. With that said, we have been to Mickey Mantle's twice while doing our own trip to the city and had lunch there during the week! Food was excellent and service was very good! IN fact the steak was very good both times - not just for a sports bar - it was good! Kids loved the burgers and my daughter said the mac and cheese is the best she ever had. And our waitress was Heather and she was very nice to the kids too! As to the memorabilia that some have negatively commented on, well that's kinda strange. It's Mickey Mantle's Restaurant... You know center fielder for the New York Yankees, Hall of Famer, #7?!! Why would you go there if not to check out the NY sports related stuff. Kinda like going to Hard Rock Cafe and thinking the music's loud and the photos are garrish! Anyway, we'd recommend Mickey Mantle's - it's well worth a visit or two especially during the day, between museum trips and the Central Park Zoo, or a visit to the Top of the Rock or the Empire State Building!

Ate at Mickey Mantle's 3 times whilst in New York as we were staying in the Helmsley Park lane next door. The food was excellent every time, the portions were huge and the staff were very friendly. Ok, so the prices are a little steep but what do you expect. This is NYC. If I end up back in New York I will definitely be paying them a visit again.

I was just in town brielfy with a frined and we stopped by. The food was really good and the portions were very generous. I mainly wanted to appologise to the lovely young man that served us for my drunken passes! I'm sorry that I've forgotten your name.

started off good, ended bad

Although the ease of getting in on a Saturday night and the very nice hostesses didn't reveal what lay ahead. The service started out well, until I hit the bathrooms, they were gross, especially for what seemed to be a nice establishment with pricey food. Then, when the meals arrived, my son's spaghetti dinner, listed on the KIDS menu for a very steep $9.95 was in a kids size bowl, just spaghetti, no apple sauce, fruit, ice cream; not even a drink included. I was beyond words that something that cost not more than 20 cents to make (small amount of spaghetti and water) cost nearly $10. When I mentioned this to my waiter I was very rudely replied back that, that was it. I felt very ripped off - like $10 ripped off, so I spoke to the manager, again in a non-threatening manner, just to mention that it's an obvious obsurdity to charge so much for something that includes nothing and is obviously not expensive to make. So, I recieved a rude reply, that he couldn't do anything about it, I was told he'd talk to Chris. No mention of who Chris was. When I further asked him for Chris's number the manager threw down a business card and walked off. I can honestly say, this is the most ripped off I've ever felt. If they lowered the price or added some included cheap sides, I would have dealt, but this was beyond what I could ever accept. All this and, they messed up on my husbands fish, gave him the sandwhich instead of the meal, afterwhich they preceded to put the exact same fish on the meal-plate and sent it right out overdone. Everyone was rude; really I thought it was known that the bad rap about NY was just that, a bad rap, guess I was wrong.

Of our group of six, four were very displeased with their meals. Also, the service was good; the bathrooms were dirty. I would definitely NOT give it the four out of five star rating that was on this website at the time we decided to go to this restaurant. Other reviews on the internet give it the more accurate, lower rating.

Good food, service okay

The food was great, really enjoyed it. However the waitress was quite patronising! - She hardly came near us except when she had to. My partner also asked for a glass of water that never came, we waited. When she eventually brought the bill she went off and came back quickly with the water, banging it down on the table and said sorry about forgetting the water. Hmmmm.... did she want a good tip. We were hardly difficult, very polite yet she was to be frank pretty unfriendly, unfortunatly for her, she did not reap the reward in a good tip as we gave below what we would normally give. Her attitude will definatly put us off going back. The waitresses were all very young, lot to learn they spent a fair bit of time hanging around the till, chatting.

Amazing

Went to Mickey Mantle's for the first time in my life last week for an event showcase. What a great place. Fun, exciting, great food, great stuff on the walls, great service, mucho televisions. Stayed after the event to drink a few and watch the Yankees opener my only gripe is the alchohol price, but i guess to have a Central Park South address they must have to pay an over market rent. A must see for all New Yorkers, sports fans and families.

Proud Mickey!

Mickey would be proud about the tranformation of his namesake restaurant. I have been going here for years, and I have got to say that the new owners the people have been talking about should get their own plaque for what they have done to this place. They have revived a New York Legend. A phoenix rising from the ashes. I used to come once in a while to watch my Yankee's, but the place was going to the crapper. Now, the place is clean, painted, new floors and carpets and lighting, lots of eye candy on the walls ( I bought a Yoggi Berra signed ball for my collection) and televisions, televisions, and televisions. The food has also been majorly upgraded. Great presentation and taste! Just how I like it, Good Old American!!!!! Now I come back often just to watch any sports! Thank you for bringing Mickey back from the dead!!!!
