Gallagher's

Description

Celebrating its 85th Anniversary, Gallagher's has remained a New York City dining landmark; the decor and ambiance have been passionately preserved to create the Classic Steakhouse experience. People come to Gallagher's for the steak. Gallagher's is the only steakhouse in New York City that grills their steaks over hickory coals. Our USDA Prime Beef is dry aged in-house for 21 days at a constant temperature of 36 degrees. Dry aging beef produces a more tender, buttery and complex flavor profile in the beef. The combination of all-natural dry aging and hickory coals makes a steak you cannot find any place else in the New York area. This celebrated restaurant remains exactly the same as it always has been and so does the extraordinary mix of our clientele -showbiz and entertainment people from all over the world, sports figures in the boxing, horse racing, football, baseball, basketball and hockey world, and business professionals.

What a stupid place. The waiter lied to us saying the chopped steak is burger. It is such a waste to spend $28 per person for burger there. Waiters are stupid and food was nasty. I used to like this place but now I hated it. Remember, all they have is burger,,,,,not steak. They used to have good fame. Now it's only shame.

Great place to eat when in Manahatten. Not the best of the best, just an old tradition.

I brought my mother to Gallagher's for a surprise mother's day lunch. Our experience at Gallagher's was satisfactory. There was prompt atention, my filet mignon was tender and flavorful, she loved the ambience of a traditional New York restaurant. We had no room for dessert but they sure looked tasty. It was a nice afternoon that I would like to relive.

I heard a lot of wonderful things about Gallaghers and was excited to go. I had an early dinner and the place was pretty empty. However, the service was HORRIBLE. I only saw my waiter twice the entire time. He never asked how the food was and I went without a refill. In addition, I ordered by filet mignon medium and it was practically still mooing when it arrived on my plate. It was extremely raw and came a only a few minutes after I ordered. Also my entire meal had no flavor. I would save your money because Gallaghers is totally over rated.

Total disappointment. My best friend and I went there - she said it was great, and I trusted her opinion since she was from Kansas City originally. MY $42 STRIP STEAK was fatty, charred (I order medium-rare) and had absolutely no flavor. They say they put nothing on their steaks because that covers up the taste of the meat. But salt, pepper, butter help bring the flavor out. It would have at least made my steak passable. I have had steaks in KC that were half as much that were 10x better. My friend's prime rib was slightly better, she got hash browns that I have had much better at Waffle House. The table next to us had lobster that looked better. Everything is a la carte. I had a bowl of $10 lobster bisque that was quite boring. With the steak, soup, a glass of $8 pinot noir and tip - $78. Total rip-off. This place was only popular because of the name.
