Sushi Yasuda

Description

The area surrounding Grand Central Terminal has long been a restaurant wasteland, but this sleek, elegant sushi restaurant has gone a long way towards changing that. Locals and commuters flock here for the large selection of fresh, innovative sushi and sashimi dishes, as well as some other tried-and-true Japanese classics. The spicy tuna rolls are just that - very spicy, very fresh. There is a relaxing ambiance, elegant and immaculate but minimalist. Sushi Yasuda serves top-quality fish that melts in the mouth but be warned - you will really enjoy the privilege.

To truly experience the magnificence of Sushi Yasuda, you must make your reservation at Yasuda's station. it was by far the best sushi meal I have had on this earth. It is orgasmic as you let each piece of perfect fish melt in your mouth. However, be prepared to empty your wallet. So worth it for the experience though.

Very subtle and formal environment with swift and helpful staff. If you arrive lacking general knowledge of the many kinds of raw fish, do opt for the staff to guide you. Otherwise, the fish quality is excellent though portions may disappoint some. Do sample the more expensive fare on the menu; the pricey toro and uni are quite nice. Chef Yasuda is a very friendly and inviting man, though there have been few cases when people testified otherwise.

Fantastic food, wonderful presentation, & flawless service in a beautifully minimalist setting. We had a variety of appetizers & entrees (sushi & sashimi as well as some cooked dishes) and everything was outstanding. Probably the best NYC restaurant experience in quite some time. I loved the lightly seared soft shell crab. And the grilled sea bass was unbelievable. A little bit of Tokyo just a stone's throw from Grand Central!

If you are lucky enough to sit when Chef Yasuda is serving; you are in for a very memorable meal that will feel like a carnival in your mouth. Go and eat like a king.

Good quality sushi. Very plain and nothing creative. Just raw fish, wasabi, and soy sauce. Go in expecting a very conventional sushi meal with no creativity whatsoever and you wont be disappointed.

You may never eat at any OTHER sushi restaurant! Sushi Yasuda has no name outside, just a small fish plaque. Inside the decor is understated and the sushi chefs are fast and service precise. It is run like the shinkansen! Sashimi and sushi glisten with freshness. The only criticism is that the food came from the sushi bar so fast that I ate too fast! Order prix- fixe and let chef make the choices! Great buy!

Still one of the best sushi restaurants - certainly in New York if not in the world. The daily selection of fresh fish beats most Tokyo restaurants I know.

prix-fixe is a bargain but try some of the extras.
