Description

The brain child of rising chef Joseph Pace, this charming Bleecker Street newcomer does one thing and does it very well: Risotto. Pace trained at Bouley, the defunct restaurant that has since become a culinary legend. Not surprisingly, risotto is an obsession here, and the menu boasts no less than 45 different kinds. All the ingredients are fresh, and you even have a number of different types of rice to choose from. A bevy of cheese stuffed pastas, crunchy salads, layered pizzas and paninis are lined up to tantalize your taste buds. Vegetarians and diet watchers will love the gluten free touch.Check website for more details.

Are you gluten free? You have to check this place out! The first day I was in the city and I visited Mozzarelli's first because I read a review that said their pizza is better. Big mistake! Mozzarelli's was good, but the crust tasted like every other gluten free pizza crust I've ever had, and the GF pizza sits right next to the regular pizza. Rissotteria's was excellent! Get the thin crust. The breadsticks are excellent too, along with the beer, and the lemon cheesecake was acceptable. I could not believe how good the pizza was. I traveled over 1,200 miles to get to NYC and Risotteria was the highlight of my entire trip! Better than the Broadway show or the Radio City Music Hall show..Next time I go to NYC I'm eating there for lunch every day. Can't say enough good things about it. The only downside is that the pizza I got was a tad pricey (I got the most expensive one at $18) but it was worth it. Gluten free people should take a trip to NYC just to eat here.

Made the trip
By Mark, 8/15/05
My wife was so ecstatic to see all of the GF items on the menu. We had read about the restaurant from a post on her celiac listserve, so we thought we'd give it a try. Glad we did. In 3 days we ate each of our lunches there, even though it meant going out of our way to subway it there. Very nice and helpful staff made the experience great. Luckily we got there at the right times, because the small seating area filled quickly, though the tables did turn over pretty fast too. The GF selection was the largest we have seen in any single restaurant, including those in the Chicago area where we live. We'll definitely go back when we are in NY again, and will mailorder whatever they have to offer when it's available.

Excellent, unique place - spectacular risotto
By Ethan Prater, 6/5/05
If you like risotto, you'll love this excellent casual restaurant. We eat here every time we're in NYC. Wonderful risotto - three different base types of rice, with nearly infinite ingredient combinations, all made with care and great fun. Charming and scrumptious - absolutely worth a visit.

My new favorite
By Min, 7/30/07
Risotto is one of my favorite dish, and Risotteria is my new favorite restaurant in New York. We ordered 3 mushroom, and mozzarella, grilled portabello and truffle oil. Both was eye-rolling good. At about $15 per dish, they are not cheap but the servings are quite plenty. Service is courteous, and they are happy to give you more of those delicious gluten free garlic bread. It's a small place, but it doesn't feel cramped - big party could be a problem tho. Decor is simple and cozy. We are so happy that we happened into this place, but sad that we didn't discover it earlier.

Don't waste your time - but buy the food!
By Veronica, 8/10/06
The food at this restaurant truly is excellent, and great for people who adhere to a gluten-free diet. However, I suggest going straight into the restaurant to the freezer, buying frozen pizza and bread, and making it yourself at home! The service is horrendous. We waited 2 hours to get a risotto dish, nevermind people who sat after us got the same meals we ordered, and left before us! That is totally unacceptable. And no apologies. To top it off, they were starving a 7-month pregnant woman! Unforgiveable.

The Best Risotto Ever !!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/5/07
Although this place is very small, do not be deceived, they have the best Risotto in New York City. The Service is pleasant and prompt and you must try the bread sticks, they are great. I highly recommend this resturaunt for singles and couples but there is not enough seating for big families (you may possibly need to make a reservation for a party of 4 or more)
