The waiter...
I proposed to my wife there in 07/2004. Bouley was a romantic and unique place to dine. The atmosphere was warm and cozy. The portions were not a whole lot, but people mostly go for legendary cuisine. Every dish was delicious and will just melt in your mouth. It will seem a crime to just swallow the food!
However, I don't have a very positive comment concerning the wait staff. Some of them like to push their will on the diners, recommending items on the menu as if it will be a sin not to order them. May be they thought I was just dating my wife for the first time and wanted to indirectly embarrass me if I don't follow according to their recommendations.
To cap it off, while proposing to my wife, the head-waiter (whatever they call him) asked me to GET UP because the lady from the adjacent table was returning from the restroom and I was blocking the pathway. Well, what goes around comes around (as they say) because the guy soon finds out what I was up to. With all the people looking at me trying to pop the BIG QUESTION, he was embarassed (with some people giggling in the background). Even the lady asked him not to interrupt me. It was all too funny!
The wonderful meal was a great complement to the drama that took place that DAY! Hope you people enjoy the food and...!
