Very disappointed, $200 later still hungry and the food did not live up to par. I had the Kobe beef, the 6oz did not seem any bigger then the 3oz.

Incredibly disappointing!!!
By ,
I was so excited to try Megu with my beautiful girlfriend during restaurant week. The ambiance is amazing and the restaurant is visually stunning. Patrons are greeted loudly by staff as they enter the restaurant which was startling but cute at first, but quickly turned annoying once the novelty wore off. When we looked at the options on the prix fixe we were disappointed. One of the appetizer listings was 2 pieces of sushi and 2 pieces of sashimi. We asked the waiter what was being served this evening - he responded by saying it's up the chef, could be tuna...could be salmon; he didn't know and was not able to find out. We decided to order from the menu instead. When I asked the server to bring a second glass so that I could share my $24 glass of sake with my girlfriend, he looked at me as if I asked him to bring ketchup to the table. The dishes were INCREDIBLY disappointing. The bluefin tuna bowl was tasteless at best. In all fairness, my gf did enjoy the rice in the dish. The sea urchin that accompanied the dish was fishy and well...gross. The spicy shrimp roll was tasty, not spicy. We also ordered a peppered chicken dish which had a delightful aroma. After I tasted it, I recommended that my girlfriend continue to enjoy the aroma and avoid tasting it. The spoonful of chopped fruit that accompanied the dish was my favorite part of the meal - fresh chopped apples and pineapple. This meal, which ended up costing $90 for the three dishes and glass of sake, was one of the most disappointing dining experiences of my life!

What's the big deal?

The food did not live up to the atmosphere, decor and overall ambience. Pity. Who pays $180 for Kobi? (Yes, we tried it)

expensive does not make it good

Been to Megu several times, all client dinners. Food is poor at best and the prices are absurd. If u like good quality food go somewhere else, if you want to impress someone with how much money you can waste on a dinner, hit Megu. Don't get me wrong, Im all for a grand night out but the food can be good also....for example...Chanterel, Bouley, Nobu, Babbo....

Well worth it!

I don't usually spend so much on a meal, but I think going to a fancy restaurant once in a while is an enjoyment. I highly recommend Megu, the atmosphere and the food are superb! Try their salad with peanut dressing wrapped inside a tofu skin and topped with soymilk foam. Also, their Kobe beef...they have amazing kobe beef skewers, I love the miso and garlic chips skewers but my friend also like the sesame one. It's one of those place that you would come out with a much lighter wallet BUT DEFINITELY WITH A SATISFYING SMILE ON YOUR FACE. =)

Love It!

A wonderful experience of food and atmosphere; though a little loud at times. Food prepared in a ceremonial manor. All delicious dishes in a unique place.

Oh Yes!

The worst part of this place is the 18 page long menu and the sky high prices. BUT the food quality is top of the top, the room is stunning and so is the crowd, so it makes it all worth it!

Great food, Great decor, Great service
By ,
From the minute we were greeted by the host until we paid we were treated superbly. The waitstaff was extremely knowledgable, and they were able to answer numerous questions about the extensive wine and sake list. They helped us navigate the menu, which had many types of offerings for different tastes. We also spoke with the owner who was also gave us some great menu selections. The space is unique and very cool. A great place to take clients. We will definitly be back.
