Red Bamboo serves up dishes inspired from all parts of the globe with one twist-everything is vegetarian or vegan. Red Bamboo prides themselves in using the finest ingredients from the fresh fruits and vegetables down to the gluten they use in their shockingly imitation meats. They even have a whole burger section! With dishes ranging from Thai curries to soy chicken parmesan sandwiches and soy steak fajitas, anyone will be able to find something they adore on Red Bamboo's menu.
I heard about this place via word of mouth. It was really a great dining experience. While the place was at its seating capacity, it wasn't a long wait for a table. I ordered the miso soup - which was tasty and filling. My main course was the grilled chicken (tofu) salad with ginger carrot dressing on a bed of mixed greens, mushrooms and tomatoes. The salad was really yummy and the service was quick and polite. I definitely plan to go back and try other items on the menu.
Red Bamboo is fantastic. The buffalo wings taste the real meat ones. And everything's vegan. And the vegetarian dishes are fantastic. Service is energetic and youthful. But I don't like the atmosphere in the sense that the restaurant is too small so it wouldn't be the best place for an intimate meal. That's the price for great food and service in a NYC restaurant. But trust me, its great for a group of 2 to 4 people. Its a great introduction to veganism/vegetarism. It's also an amazing restaurant for age old vegans and vegetarians. Most importantly, it's cheap and you know it's true if it's coming from a college student.
