Established in 1987 on the corner of Spring and Sullivan in the heart of Soho, Mezzogiorno has earned a reputation as one of New York's most alluring and genuine restaurants. Mezzogiorno's exquisite menu is based on the authentic Florentine "cucina". A meticulous commitment to quality and detail is apparent in every dish.
Mezzogiorno is a fantastic restaurant all around. The food is fantastic, which reminded us of Al Vento back home in Minneapolis. The wine was fantastic. We asked the waiter for top recommendations and his selections exceeded our expectations. The white, Vermentino, was fantastic as well as the red, which was not on their normal menu. I assume I was really lucky to be presented this glass of wine since most of their red selections are super premium (AKA $$$). Bread comes with the meal. Two very different types are given and both are delicious. They also provide olives, which were amazing (and a very nice touch). The atmosphere is very nice and romantic. The servers are very aware and attentive if you need anything. You will never run out of water. I highly recommend this restaurant.
We had dinner at Mezzogiorno on Thursday evening and place was surprisingly empty. Pasta with crab meat was delicious...pizza was outstanding. I am definitely going to be back and I wish I knew about this place before.
