Cafeteria, New York

Thursday morning despite Kelis being @ the Splash night club I took a short ride over to the Cafeteria Restaurant remembering the last time I went how good the service was quick an efficient... serving a table of three two boys an one gurl . this time I sat at the bar being that I would have to wait 15 mins for a table which was not a problem I was just too hungry too wait ... the bartender took my order of an omelet w goat cheese an arugula with a side of mushroom thick gravy my order arrived in a pretty timely manner looked great but.. my omelet was chilly and i had to wait the entire meal for my home fries i asked the waiter what happened he in turned asked the waiter Paul if he would get the home fries for my meal the bartender returned to me say that home fries were served alacart which was not truth it's stated on the menu so to my dismay I had to remind both Paul an the bartender that some one needed to retrain themselves on which foods were served with what, so this wouldn't happen again. Service is everything had they brushed up on their menu skills this would not have happened every restaurant should have their servers review the menu every month so that ppl that expect their meal to served a certain way are not disappointed sorry Paul but u need a brush up on whats on your menu. my bill was reasonable enough ,... so I left a 9 dollar tip. had they not brought out the home fries at the end of my meal I would have left them a penny for their thoughts !!!! i went back o The club Splash with a satisfied appetite but the home fries served with my meal would have been a nicer delight. i will go back because the do have the bang'n Cobb Salad & the most fulfilling Mac an Cheese i also made some friends while sitting at the bar so u guys just need to sharpen up Over all its a great experience the setting the food the servers are happy ppl so it seem

Despite having to wait half an hour in the rain, I must say it was well worth it. Girls evening out for a light dinner and drinks was great. I started with a carafe of white wine Sangria, lovely and smooth. Then I had the mussels as an appetizer. Can you say GREAAAAT. We had to order another round. They were great, not over done and the cream sauce had me almost picking up the bowl to my mouth to drink. I was so full of the mussels and bread that I did not order an entree. My friends had the salmon which was just ok. I will go back for the Cobb Salad next week.

While the revamped menu is good, the service is still slow and forgetful. Drink glasses go unfilled and a spoon or fork dropped is hard to replace. The stuffed dates are probably the best appetizer, filled with cheese, drizzled with a tangy sauce and their California Cob Salad with chicken is wonderful. They do seem to segregate at Cafeteria. Gays to the back toward the kitchen, away from windows. Straights by entrance door and windows, then filling the center of the space.

A great night-out in the city deserves a great place to dine and unwind and Cafeteria is the place to be. A classy 24 hour diner, the place is packed at 4 in the morning so dont be surprised if you have to wait 15-20 minutes. But once you are seated, you will be glad you waited as the menu is filled with delicious dishes. Its known for its Mac and Cheese, which once you try, you would want to have more. The tomato basil soup was perfect, and non-overbearing while the turkey burger just was great to satisfy an empty stomach.

The Food is Great! Try the sliders - scallops. You'll want to eat them for your main dish. The decore is nicely done too wend and only had a 10 minute wait while other places were up to an hour. My only peeves are the loud club music blasting out from all sides. Makes you have to yell at the people you're with to get in a word. Other than that, it's a great place to eat... and 24hrs.

I wonder who places these suggestions...they must not be a New Yorker. Cafeteria is already passe...and is NOT nor has it ever been known for coffee...I hesitate to suggest a replacement...too many tourists are still trying to relive the Sex in the City haunts...TV ruins great places for the locals!

This place is not known in NYC for coffee at all. Music so loud you can't hear yourself think. Food is average at best & pricey. Wait staff gets orders wrong, refill drink orders with wrong wine. Used to be cool place years ago.

The food was good, moderately priced, but as a single person eating alone I was largely ignored by the waiter. The person bringing water checked on me more and seemed to be far more interested in my well being than the waiter. He was almost rude and seemed to be bothered to be waiting on only person.

The food is always very solid and consistent here. It can be a little loud and crowded for business lunches; but outside of that, the mood and atmosphere is great.
