I was there a few days ago for dinner with a girl friend and the tapas were out-of-this world !
They have two sizes - tapa & racion. Small & large. It's much more fun to get 4-5 tapa-size portions
& share. I greatly recommend the grilled fresh sardines w/lemon, the grilled bacon-wrapped dates
and the empanada of bacalao (cod) yummmm !
This accompanied by a nice white wine - I recommend an Albarino for the authentic taste of Spain.
If you prefer a fruity taste - their sangria is also very good.
I've been going there since the late 90's and I still say that the have the BEST and most authentic
tapas in New York. The setting is fabulous too, the basement is in an unpretentious basement facing
1st avenue and either you eat at the bar or at one of the tables which are full-sized wine barrels on their
side with 2-3 chairs per barrel-table.
