Its Bread and Meat...
By ,
Why should you go to a place that serves cold bread and cold lunch meat and pay $10 per person. You can get the same thing at Subway and pay $4. I dont even like Subway...

Overrated. It was OK, but as good as I would thought. I'd give it an average. You can get better at a Quizno. Just meat and bread nothing special.

I am form Boston. It isn;t a town known for it's deli's but I have to sa that I was abit disappointed with the pastrami. HEre is Boston it is grilled and served on an italian sub roll. It was good on the rye, but it wasn't the same as I think they either bake it whole or steam it. I like it in Boston better! Oh well!

Although many people still speak fondly of Katz's Deli the honeymoon is over. The food is mediocre, and the older longtime staff is flat out rude. If you are already in this great neighborhood walk around a bit a discover tons of better places. I have lived in NYC my entire life. They should have put out the 'for sale' sign long ago.

MOST PITIFUL EXCUSE FOR A JEWISH DELI
I went here a few years back when I first moved to Houston, and I can only say negative things. I had a PA license at the time, as I had just moved here from PA, and they would not serve me alcohol because I didn't have a TX ID. I suppose it is at their discretion whether or not they want to serve anyone, but they were rude. So I left. I went back last month because I wanted to give it a shot, but I was totally given the same impression. Rude waiter, pathetic food... the only thing similar to a NY establishment about Katz's is the rudeness. There is NOTHING resembling the Jewish delis I frequented back home. This place is HORRID!

Will Never Go Back
By ,
I've lived in NYC for more than 30 years and on 9/18/05 was my first visit to the Deli. When I first walked in I didn't like the way the place looks, it looks like it needs a renovation. The service was lousy, the waitress was rude and for the price that you pay for the food it's not worth it, the knish was lousy, the knockwurst was burned and the french fries were not cooked thoroughly. I will never go back to this place again.

I know lot of people love foods at Katz's Deli but I think it will be my first and last visit. The service and ambiance are not at their best but still OK considering it's a Deli. When I got my plate over the counter, I was frightened. The Pastrami sandwich is rather edible but I'd like to advise never order Corn Beef. Somebody said he grew up with food at Katz's Deli; then I wonder if his blood vessels haven't clogged up. I think it's one of the most overrated places in NYC.
